Most of you have probably never heard of this electronic band. Their "albums" are live recorded performances, often improvised. This image is their disc artwork. I find it awesome cause that's not from a box set. Those are each disc from 1996 to 2008, planned from the beginning to cleverly spell out the band name. The letter on each disc is also the first letter of the name of each album. Pretty damn sweet.

And they demonize the Christians... Scientology is so much worse: I'm open to debate on the merits of and truthfulness/not of Christianity and other religions, but Scientology is made up in a way that everybody knows for certain- the founder himself said so! So here we go, a business that's out to get people. Can I think of anything worse? Not even close.

I don't really care what people believe in... If they want to believe in the tenants of scientology then who am I to say otherwise. I may disagree, I may think it's stupid, but they're choice, not mine.

HOWEVER... I have a big issue with the organisation, the "church of scientology" which is really a (tax exempt in a lot of countries) business designed to fleece people of everything they have.

The same I guess could apply to most cults. I don't care what you believe in, but I have a big issue with the systematic destruction of anyone who disagrees or wants out and I sure as hell don't think you should have to pay for it.

Here's where I'm going to draw some fire. While I do believe in freedom of religion and respect for other people's beliefs in almost all cases, there are exceptions. Scientology is one of them. If something is blatantly false, then even those who are honest believers, I cannot accept their choice as valid. If they know it is false, why believe? I do not respect the idea that it is ok to believe in something just to feel good, even when it is known to be false. And if they don't know it to be false, then, in the case of Scientology, they didn't do enough basic research to validate their blind belief. I cannot respect blind baseless belief either.

Blind baseless belief is faith...faith is a belief in the trustworthiness of an idea that has not been proven...the basis of any religion and historically the strongest force of mankind...even greater than the pursuit of wealth or power.

Whether or not individuals can remain truly devout to their faith without being skewed by outside forces and temptations is what creates question.

I was 16 on a school trip to France...I saw the cathedrals at Notre Dame and Chartres...I saw the religious art at the Louvre and understood faith. Nothing so beautiful, so rich and so deep could have been created without faith...blind baseless belief...no need for tangible evidence, no need for accurate historic proof...simply and purely blind faith.

And a stern lashing or two ordered by a bishop maybe...ha!

What was the discussion again?

Well, I m going to make it worse by posting right under Dan. Don't think of it as a 'commercial' just a subliminal message directed at making you go out and buy one of their albums.:)

wow....apparently my uncle (who lives in Oregon) has been done twice for burglary in 2002 and once for fraud/criminal mistreatment

Haha! I found one of my teachers who tried to have sex with a student, all (Except one!) of my old friends from school and another friends dad who got busted for smoking crack and breaking into someones house...
