I just watched what must be the best clip of live music I've seen in a long long time. Two of the most incredible build ups in progressive music in less than 7 minutes. First one in the start, the second at like 4:40.
I fucking love Hogarths expression when he sings "I'm perfectly sane!" in the end.

I was looking through the attic this morning and I found an old cassette tape of 'Yes - 90125', needless to say I quickly dug out my dusty old tape player :kickass:

Man, I want a Malmsteen Strat.

I actually played one a while back at a used shop and couldn't get used to the scalloped fretboard. I love the tone of them, but I have a tendency to press slightly hard because my action is somewhat high normally. Maybe it just takes some getting used to, though.

A question to those with Martial Arts experience:

I was wondering, with using a punching bag, is it a good idea to use gloves initially so I don't damage my hands? Is there some sort of glove which will give a bit of protection, but isn't a completely padded boxing glove, as alot of the Krav Maga stuff is open hand technique, and bare-handed?

Cheers.

damage your hands? Didn't you see Kill Bill? That's not an exaggeration man.

If somebody jumps you, you won't have time to stop and put your dainty gloves on. However you normally dress and normally are, that is how you should train. Or, with added difficulty.

if its a comfort issue, you can tape your hands, it will give you some support. But in all honesty, ive never used gloves!

Kinda like playing guitar, you're fingers will hurt when you start learning. Martial arts, or boxing is no differint. But in due time you wont even notice it!

@ Ken: Yeah I know that, so ultimately I wouldn't be training with gloves, obviously, but I mean in the initial stages whilst my hands, arms etc. get used to the jolting aspect of striking with a reasonable amount of force, which I haven't done before...

P.S. I haven't seen Kill Bill... :p

EDIT: Cheers Proulxski, makes sense...

Yes, I would have to agree with the guys Dan.

Man, I want a Malmsteen Strat.

Yeah, me too man.
Either that, or an MJR signature Caparison with scalloped neck.

I actually (with a surprising success) scalloped my guitar's neck a while ago, and I'm already used to it.

In fact, I don't think I'm gonna play an ordinary neck ever again. It makes all the difference in the world regarding vibrato and bends.
Maybe it's just me, but it really improved my overall control over the instrument, so I'm happy with it.

I only did martial arts for a year, way back, but in regards to Dans question about gloves. Sure if your going to have to throw down with someone, and how often is this going to really happen... you wont have gloves but you hopefully wont be pounding them for a full half hour. If your just working out why subject ones hands to such abuse ? Boxers wear gloves because they would break their hands all to hell without them. Regardless of the martial arts aspect I have subjected all my body parts to decades of physical abuse due to my work, the effects of this rear their ugly face as the body ages.

I do jujitsu and Judo, where we don't wear shoes or gloves. I brake wood with my bear hands, Im sure a punching bag is nothing lol! (and i'm not talking bout my wood haha) It really depends on what martial art you're doing, most martial arts arnt really mean to have much equipment like that. But like I originally said, either tape up your hand (google how its done) or get gloves like they wear in the UFC. I'm a huge UFC fan, anyone see the Goerge "Rush" St-Pierre vs BJ Penn? What a fucking fight!
