A lot of people hate on Cradle of Filth, but I really love 'em, especially this album (haven't heard anything after Nymphetamine though) - really epic, awesome music, and Dani Filth is such a fantastic vocalist, I love how dynamic and consistent he is, and it really has that sound of being recorded in long takes rather than all split up and comp'ed to hell, simply because of how many "imperfections" there are that really add to the awesomeness of it (I just finished tracking vocals for my upcoming EP, so this concept is particularly fresh in my mind :D)

Just puttin' it out there :headbang:
 
TBH, music-wise speaking, i like the pre-Midian era.
But i have to agree.Midian is a hell of a mix:kickass:

I've seen them live once
The show was pretty good
The sound was ok
Dani was an ass:mad:
 
midian was one of the first supposedly "extreme" metal albums i ever got into..
might have to bust it out again now

See, I never looked at it as symphonic black metal (or rather, judged it by how much it lived up to the title ;)), I just think of it as semi-gothic (in terms of subject matter of the lyrics) kindasorta-black metal with really epic riffz and great keyboard parts. The album in question is "Midian", and here's one of the best songs from it:

I fucking love that unison guitar and organ sound when the latter song picks up, so intense

And the only pre-Midian CoF I've heard is "Dusk and Her Embrace", which I really like, but I like the refinement of Midian even more

I dunno, sounds like watered down Dimmu Borgir to me...

Have you heard Anorexia Nervosa? Most of their music is really bad industrial/gothic, but they released one CD "New Obscurantis Order" that fucking annihilates.

Made up your mind pretty quick about that ;) And I don't really hear the similarity to Dimmu, CoF is much more "gothic" in the sense I mentioned above IMO, especially with the emphasis on church organs and such.

That song is pretty sweet, but I definitely agree about the ridiculousness of the name :loco:
 
The only 2 albums I listened to are Midian and Nymphetamine. I completely agree with you Marcus, Midian is greaatt. Nymphetamine, on the other end...:puke:

The song Scorched Earth Erotica is my favorite CoF song. I love the progressive side of some of their songs, like this one.
