Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
Listened to this one a few times. It is rockin. The first track has a badass riff to it. Sounds cool. Balls and chunk is where its at! Most of this album is pretty mellow, but the songs are great. Steven Wilson is erally impressing me with his work with Opeth and now PT. Watching the documentary on the Opeth DVD gives great insight as to how brillian a musician Steven Wilson is. The songs on In Absentia are so easy to listen to. The chord patterns are very classy. Is there any other PT albums I should check out?
Evergrey - The Inner Circle
This is pretty cool. Have heard of these guys for a while, but finally checked em out with their latest album. Very, very dark theme. The album is about Cults and cult leaders. The lyrics as you would imagine are very dark and lend themselves to some very emotional singing. I am definatly going to check out more of these guys. The samples the use work really well within the songs and the harmonies are cool. The chick singer used on a track or 2 is very refreshing as well.
Opeth - Still Life and Morningrise.
Had Still Life in MP3's. Finally ordered it. Awesome album. The moor is fuckin great. was great in concert and is great on the album. Morningrise was the only Opeth album I didnt have so I got it. Very different to the albums that follow. Lots of twin guitars and shit like that. To Bid You Farewell is one of my favorite ever songs, so it was worth it just for that.
Frameshift - Unweaving the Rainbow
Have only spun this once so far so it is hard for me to really give an accurate description. But I was very impressed with James LaBries performance. I have never really heard him sing like this before. Certainly not for a long time. On first spin, the standout track was La Mer. He sounds killer
