Ok guys, I know this has been covered to death but I just need some re-assurance.

I read this thread, http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...150-buying-guide.html?highlight=buying+an+amp , and others and just want to ask a couple of questions.

I'm buying an amp pretty much 100% just for reamping heavy tracks. I do alot of mixing and alot of the stuff I get is beyond awful guitar wise.

My options right now seem to be a 5150, 6505 or maybe a Dual Rec. I'm really leaning towards the 5150 cause I tried a friends out and loved it. Am I kidding myself about buying some EVH or signature model instead of just getting a 6505? I really don't usually buy into the "older is better thing" but I am having way to many people tell me different things about these amps. What's the main differences between a 6505 and 6505+.

Also, if anyone out there is looking to sell any of these amps, PM me and we might be able to work something out.

I'm based in LA.

5150 = 6505
5150 II = 6505+

They're 100 % identical, the only difference is how they look like. The amp itself is the same. The reason they did it was because their deal with EVH ended and they couldn't keep the trademark for "5150" anymore, so they had to rename the amp.

See....that's a real answer! thanks man! So then what's the difference between the 6505 and 6505+????

Alright....well anyone got a 6505??

So then what's the difference between the 6505 and 6505+????

6505/5150 = Five 12AX7s
6505+/5150 II = Six 12AX7s

6505/5150 = 3-band EQ
6505+/5150 II = Independent 3-band EQ on each channel

6505/5150 = Resonance & Presence controls
6505+/5150 II = Independent Resonance & Presence controls on each channel

6505/5150 = 2 Input Jacks
6505+/5150 II = 1 Input Jack

6505/5150 = Crunch option on/off on amp only
6505+/5150 II = Crunch option on/off on amp & footswitch

I think that's it...

The clean channel on the 6505+/5150 II is better, and I've heard some people say they have a fizz in the high end. I'd be more inclined to go for a the 6505, but if you have enough money, look into the JSX as well.

Ok...change of plans.....found someone who's got a 5150 signature and is willing to sell for....well...a veery good price...so that's what I'm going to get!

Thanks guys!
