Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Frank Zappa, ELP, Styx, Rush, Kansas, Queen, Transatlantic (even though they are a newer band).

*Facepalm* How dare I? I mensioned Styx in a list without Kansas? Backwards. I especially like the song "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas.

EDIT: I added good ol' Kansas.

Transatlantic and The Tangent aren't exactly old school, but IMO they're among the best in the genre.
I also love Styx (who are the best in the genre), (arguably) Queen, Yes, Rush, Kansas, and King Crimson.

I like Queen also *adds to list*. Styx isn't my favorite in the genre but I still like em.

Kansas and Kerry Livgren's Christian albums such as Seeds of Change are amazing. Anyone who does not have this album needs to get it right away
