OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO BODOM LAWL?!

alexi said: I'm just putting some riff, hearing the guys feedback, and after we start jaming and correcting thing and if the song is good, we keep it.

I think alexi find the riff and the "main idea" of a song, and other's improvise on it.

Janne made Warmen because "some of the thing he was composing didn't fit with COB"

whoever does the work in the composing of the songs does a really good job with it. Warmen is absolutely amazing. I love the fact that its keyboard orientated i think Janne is a really good musician and he should express his talents. I like the guitar too. I am a keyboard player aswell. I can't find any tabs for Warmen, maybe 2 songs.

And I quote, from the February Guitar World issue: "Alexi Laiho got hammered and decided to climb on top of a parked car. Not realizing the roof was icy, he slipped and fell. When he felt blood streaming down his face, he knew he cut his head pretty badly. Then he realized he couldn't move his right arm. 'I broke three bones in my wrist just because of stupidity,' he says. 'Are You Dead Yet just means, 'Have you had enough partying yet? Are you fucking done with this shit?'...'The music [Are You Dead Yet] just flowed out spontaneously because it was bottled up inside for so long. If anything, I would say it's less progressive than our previous efforts, because in the past, I'd go totally crazy and play as fast as I could. I still do that sometimes, but that's not the point anymore. Now all the parts are there to serve the songs."

Happy? Alexi just explained why the new stuff is less technical, straight from the source :D

anyway, warman is a badass guy, and i think if they got a singer who WASN'T kim goss they could be a decent power-metal group (warmen) but ATM it's way too keyboard oriented (don't get me wrong i play the keyboard myself but the layering is too over the top). yeah. i'll agree that it was probably mainly alexi's fault and that doesn't bug me too much since i still like bodom, but all i'm saying is that you might wanna look into it. also, playing stuff the lead guitarist and writer writes isn't really like "playing someone elses material" i mean that's what it is literally but i'm sure that they all have contributions and feedback, even if they don't come up with the main riff or hook. alexander, once again, wrote a bunch of riffs on SW (including leads on deadnight warrior, i believe) so anyway. yep.

I dunno, but I remember reading in some interview where Janne said that Alexi wrote the keyboard parts as well. Sure maybe Ale wrote a few riffs on SW but when I look in the FTR booklet and I see "All songs written and arranged by Alexi Laiho" it makes me go :zombie: Not that it's a bad thing neccesarily, just saying he's lucky to find ppl who don't mind that.

The reason why Warmen is too keyboard orientated is because the mainman is a keyboardist! :loco:

And Kim Goss isn't the lead singer.

hey, i know this homie, i just don't like how noticeably he layers keyboard parts when there's just one keyboard (NOTICEABLY)

also, i know kimmy isn't the lead singer, i just dont' want her to be, because i despise her voice. anyway yeah, wirman's stuff is Hardcore neoclassical, which is probably not the direction bodom wants to go in, what, with the raw emotion and whatnot. but wait. meh nevermind, 16th arpeggiated minor triads on harpsichord just don't fit with bodom's usual sound (although in the end of towards dead end it's wicked).

don't get on my case for classical being the most emotional form of music, that's only inspired classical. i don't mind the twin keybaords when there's actually 2 keyboardists like in sonata arctica, but it's just kinda a pet peeve. dunno why.

i thought being in a band was contributing to the writing process... i mean this isnt "alexi laiho's children of bodom" ... or just "laiho"

this is true. in bands like bands i've been in and my friends band (www.myspace.com/inquest www.myspace.com/midniteoverture) ususally one guy will write songs, but in reality if it were a solo project it just wouldn't have the same feel. imagine alexi with like.. the guys from finntroll or something. not only do they play with a different feel, but it would also look hilarious, hence ruining the feel of COB. although all this playing with a car on stage crap is just lame.

I wasn't getting on anyones case.

I think the neoclassical worked great with CoB and they should have continued it. But even Alexi himself said that Something Wild doesn't sound like Children of Bodom.... :erk:

connect alexander's leaving the band back in 03 (i believe) to the loss of all our favorite neoclassical and powermetal sounds in bodom
i agree.. but i think that most cause of the loss we all felt, was the very first US tour which showed them how big and income bringing this market is

and btw, yes, Ale could 'shred same as Allu', and these are the words of a bands friend, the Griffin lead guitarist who used to post here once

and he could also drive a truck, which makes him more Chuck Norris than Alexi.
