Opeth...by your own words

One time I imagined I had cottage cheese on my testicles while listening to Face of Melinda. Is that the kind of answer you wanted?

describe Opeth's music,

Metal with hints of progressive influence and death vocals.

what you feel under it's spell,

atmospheric. evokes haunting imagery.

what you think about them,

I think they're a humble no-nonsense bunch of fellows who live for their music. The day they stop being such is the day I lose my respect for em.

their goal's on music,

I'd be pretty worried if their goals in music weren't to make music that they personally like.

future achievements,

Barring all worst case scenarios, they might have a chance to be history.

One word: beautiful

more than one word: beautiful progressive and melodic death metal with soothing acoustics and clean vocals.

Overall conclusion: Opeth is Opeth and there is not really a single category you can put them into, because they fit a few different catogories, other than just metal or death metal. I honestly feel a beauty in their music that is both depressing and soothing. I can relate to the riffs and some of the lyrical content into my own understanding and experiences. For example, when it's a dark and cloudy day, I can put on an Opeth song and feel it's depressing atmospheres and pounding riffs accompanied by beautiful melodies, as they go along to how the weather is.

Opeth is probably different to me than most of you, but I seriously think their music is just beautiful.

Describe Opeth..... hmmmm

I guess I am not your normal Opeth fan. I don't really like death metal, but for some reason Opeth can pull it off. They are the only band that I can stand death vocals. Mikael is a great musician and I enjoy his style of song writing. They play everything from Beautiful acoustics to thriving double bass in your face brutality. I guess they describe my view on music, I like everything from classical music to heavy music. Everything they do is interesting and I don't think they are as popular as they should be. (whether I would like that or not)

describe Opeth's music,

romantic death

what you feel under it's spell,

feeling good about doom

what you think about them,

I really like Mikael and the two South-Americans. They seem down to earth people with a passion for music.

their goal's on music,

I hope they continue to break barriers.

future achievements, etc...

Opeth will most likely reach their height concerning number of fans with the coming album.

I think they sold out, atleast with the grand conjuration track.... i'll have to wait and hear the rest to know for sure.

come on...in how far did they sell out? they didnt get more pop, they didnt reduce song length, they have their most inaccessible growls since orchid and they reduced their melodic parts...seems quite anti-sellout to me...

^^ grows are overproduced and slick sounding, song lacks any real flow despite consisting of far too few component parts for a 9 minute song, complex melodicism is far more esoteric than a more rhythmic focus

actually that makes you a pretty average opeth fan, i think. very few opeth fans seem to like (real) black metal or death metal, and the ones that do eventually get into it tend to stop listening to opeth.

you're an idiot. you've described every opeth song since blackwater park lol!

i wasnt arguing that they suddenly sold out, just that the stuff arguments he gave against it were wrong :)
