Does anyone know what effects I have to work on to get a similar sound?

kind of right....granted, when they are playing clean, there is no distortion coming from the pedals...but the signal is still going through the pedal, so its not coming purely from the amp...unless there is a true bypass with the gt-6...(begins searching)

just got myself a brand new GT8 for £220 (almost half price) so I'll be fiddling with it soon enough, and then I'll see for myself how to get my own take on Opeth's sound

Ebay mate, get a lot of my gear from there. Got my AVT150 head and angled cab for 350 for the lot, which is cheaper then what the head itself retails for. Not quite what Opeth use but it gives a nice tone, and is a loud bugger, lol
