Opeth Re-Releasing several albums

They should just re-re-release the earlier albums (Orchid and Morningrise especially) Because the production is not that great.
Just think of Morningrise with the production of GR, it would be awesome.

right. good thing morningrise and orchid are so intense and extreme. if they were pop albums like ghost reveries, id see no reason to re-do the production on them. phew...that was close!!

Cool... but would you mind telling me what you were trying to get at there?

I certainly dont think any albums should be re-done, even SL, which, while my favourite work by Opeth, has the worst production by far. Still though, the imperfections on that album give it character.

Perfect production is over-rated if you ask me... Orchid and Morningrise with GR production (which is shit in my opinion) would sound terrible. Of the post SL albums, I'd say that BWP has a good sound.

what's exactly the point of re-releaseing these albums? any music store i've been to has them.

Not in Europe. All three albums have been unavailable from distributors for some four to eight months now. Of course there is still some copies in circulation around the Europe, but officially it's sold out when national distributor doesn't get anymore copies from the holdover MFN distributor.
Sony-BMG releasing means that in Finland they won't be any cheapo CD's.
