Just a thought, How would you feel if Opeth made a video out of one of there songs from the upcoming album? I think it would be interesting to say the least, but I don't quite know at the same time.

If they did it preoperly, and made it all atmospheric and stuff, and didnt resort to those annoying 'this was filmed at a summer festival' video, then it would rule!!

let me be more precise:
there would be chains hanging from the trees and some of the chains would be hanging from thin air! WHAT THE FUCK! "How is that possible?" you might ask. I'll explain. Be patient. Opeth has that "cosmic" and "mystical" wibe to it's music. Maybe because of the moustache, maybe not, but it's still there.
The sound waves would hold these chains up in the air while the band avoided the meathooks (which are on 37% of the chains).
Bulldozer at the end. Everyone would be surprised and Mendez drinks some beer.

If it was done with like.. the quality and creativity of a Tool video, maybe. But not "hey watch us play to screaming fans!" or something. It would probably feel wrong if you even saw the band playing.

Seriously, I wouldn't like to see Opeth make a music video. The video would be probably played on MTV2 or some other trendy channel. Opeth is "in the scene" if you know what i mean!? Opeth is UG 'cause their fans appreciate them.
Shit, I used to listen to Papa Roach few months back. I still revere that band because through them i found metal. You know they are metal and all that...

there's loads of bands that make videos but MTV2 will never touch them. When was the last time you saw a carcass or strapping young lad video on MTV2? Well they have made videos. If opeth made a video, MTV2 wouldnt play it.

is the Harvest video on the BWP reissue an actual video or just them playing live? And Amorphis has also made some videos, I wonder if they were played on mtv2. I wouldnt' care either way.

Opeth would be played on MTV2 along with the already cycling In Flames, Soilwork, and Arch Enemy vidoes.
Sorry for not making myself clear. I was referring to a professionaly done music video not footage that was taken at the studio.

Nah, since Opeth is at stage 3 of music, a commercial video just wouldn't work.
By stage 3 i mean...err...
Stage 1 - MTV, radio, Limp bizkit, Linkin park etc...popular and mainstream
Stage 2 - Steve Vai, Joe Satriani etc...not mainstream, but still kinda popular
Stage 3 - Opeth, Ayreon etc...not popular nor mainstream
Now stage 3 is where to find the really good music

Run a search on E-bay for "Opeth Live". There are VHS tapes of them playing shows in America for fairly cheap.
