Ah, fuck... lots of reading... fucken tired. Lets just say I agree with wankerness and moonlapse.
I take the old albums for the atmosphere. Its sorta obvious that many of these people asking 'whats so good about the old albums' havent actualy listened to much black metal, where atmosphere and production are not conflicting... because there is no productions, just purely atmosphere. I rekon atmosphere is the essence of an album, and if the atmosphere is weak because the production is too clean, to me thats just not as good.
