Orphaned Land and Coolness!

They gave that to you in the army? I thought they are not allowed to give non kosher stuff since some of the people are religious.
I remember all the spam jokes from M*A*S*H.
I remember my dad said that at a base he was stationed at, it was right next to the water. So they used to go out in the deeper part to fish. They ended up eating fish for every meal.

not exactly this stuff...the israeli kosher equivalent...probably made of some chicken and beef leftovers

Does it taste as bad?
I heard that serving Spam to people was originally going to be against the Geneva Convention. Not really, but it should be.

Check out Nightingale. It's Dan's melodic dark prog project. They're great. Don't confuse them with the German melo-death band Night In Gales though, even though they kick ass too.

Chill out!...I like a derailed thread about death metal vocalists. ;-)
Still my fave metal genre which produced some very charismatic frontmen namely Chuck Schuldiner, John Tardy, Karl Willets, Mikael Akerfeldt, David Vincent, Chris Reifert, Kam Lee, Patrick Mameli, Martin van Drunen, Johnny Hedlund...to name but a few...
I can sense a lack of Swanö there  Anyone who has Moontower will agree

Indeed...well I saw Nightingale at Prog Power Holland in 2003 and wasn't impressed, at least as far as I remember. Never got round to checking out any of Dan's albums though...

Nightingale are cheesey and a little powerish that's what makes them cool.
I think Dan can pretty much get away with anything with all the good shit he has made over the years.

It is too bad Dan can't growl anymore...he says it hurts his vocal chords...
I think we would see some more new Edge of Sanity stuff and possibly another moontower-ish album. for now we'll have a new compilation of Edge of Sanity on 2 cd's and that's the last thing Dan would do under the name Edge of Sanity

SO that's why he doesn't growl anymore. I was wondering how come he didn't just take over vocal duties for Bloodbath after Peter left. He could have just done vocals instead of looking for someone.
That's also what happened to Christofer from Therion. They aren't going to play their death metallish stuff anymore and he left Demonoid, which was one of the best super groups EVER!

Right, so I looked for more info on "Moontower" and after reading a couple of reviews I reached the conclusion that said album will probably appeal to me A LOT. Thanks for the recommendation!

*adds Moontower to shopping list*

:)

If you like Moontower, I would also recommend Tales From The Thousand Lakes from Amorphis. It's different but still similar.

I wonder why Jonas from Katatonia stopped growling...I don't think it was hurting Jonas' vocals since they did perform Muder live until recently
