For the same price, you can get a 360 and a Wii. Personally, I think that is the better option, unless you're getting the PS3 specifically for the Blu-ray player.

I had this discussion today, but being a curmudgeon I'm too set in the playstation controllers and don't want to have to learn new buttons.

though my ps2 pretty much just collects dust as all i really play is Madden

I'm not sure about the different levels of the 360 these days. When I bought mine, there was just the "core" with no hard drive, and then the one with a hard drive. You need the hard drive, especially if you're going to use it to buy DLC for Rock Band.
