I'm hungry and want to get something from the caf downstairs, but I have to wait another 15-20 to miss the Med student rush. Their lunch hour break starts at noon and they all make a mad dash to get food. I try to avoid the med students as much as possible.

Fuck.

I just got this in my Shield VIP Newsletter (or whatever the fuck they call it, but it comes from Fox):

THE SHIELD RETURNS APRIL 3
The long wait is over – FX has announced that the sixth season of The Shield will return April 3 (after the first season of the new Courteney Cox drama, Dirt, has ended). There will be 10 episodes of The Shield this year before it returns with 13 episodes in 2008 for its final season.

WTF?!?! April 3rd!!!!! ARRRGGGHHH!! I hate cable shows and how they do their scheduling. They air 10 episodes and then disappear for a year. How are we supposed to remember what the hell is going on?

Boo!

Forgot to mention that I went to a hockey game yesterday, eh?

It was a Chicago Wolves game (of the AHL) and we had some pretty kickass seats. My husband's friend is a big shot with the team, so he got the tickets for free. They lost, though, to the Omaha Knights. Bastards.

you said it I used. a long time ago back in the 90s I worked 8-5 and would take lunch at 2 or 2:30 sometimes.
I used to work 8-5 also. Take lunch at 1pm. Then take my first break at 4:25, get back at 4:40, work for 5 mins, then take my last break from 4:45 to go home time. That was at a call center. I was leading the account in call time and calls taken, making my boss look good, so he didn't care. Someone complained and they made a rule you couldn't take your last break in the last hour of your shift.

Or you could just take lunch at the end of the day and leave early

Federal labor laws prevent you from doing that in most places (basically, the companies that are scared enough of a records audit). I used to do it all the time at smaller places, but where I'm at now if you go 1 minute over six hours you can get written up. I usually go at 5 hours, 50 minutes or so. Then I come back and there's only two hours left and usually don't even bother with my last break.

We went to the Phoenix Roadrunners game the weekend before last. They are ECHL but we had a better time than we ever did with the Coyotes. Our tickets were free but at 7th row they still only would have been $32.50. But the Alaska Aces kicked their asses (they have passing issues).

I think what I liked the most about it is that the refs take their sweet time breaking up fights.
