Parts in songs that send shivers down your spine.

Lately it's been the entire duration of this song that I go to for my fear fix:

Seriously one of the most brilliantly dissonant pieces I've heard.

Nice, Aosoth is excellent. Here are a few songs that give me that "goosebump" feeling.

Pretty much the whole song, but especially after the 5:30 mark.

This whole song.

1:40 mark on.

Whole song.

What the fuck does that matter if they're actually an awesome band (which Blut Aus Nord is)?

"What does your mother giving you a hard-on matter if she's actually hot anyway?". Well she is a babe, and technically it would feel good to fuck her, but it would also feel wrong.

I like what I've heard from Blut Aus Nord, but I don't want to associate myself with the ass-kissers who treat them like metal Renaissance men. Therefore liking them gives me a dirty feeling.

All of Arriving Somewhere But Not Here by Porcupine Tree. But one moment in particular is the very last note in the second guitar solo, so around 9:36 ish, where he hits an off-key note and bends it up by just a semitone as it fades out to make it sound perfect.

Spine-chilling.

The bit at 6:56 when the really heavy thrash-esque riff comes in is good too.

That question came off sounding really dick-ish; sorry about that.

Still, music is different from, um... screwing your mom. You can enjoy a band even if you don't agree with the revolutuionary status associated with their name. Not wanting to like a band simply because of their hype isn't really a good reason. Not wanting to fuck your mom because... well, she's your mom is different, in my opinion (and a very disturbing analogy as well).

Well, let's not forget that I do like them after all. Aside from that, what I want and don't want to like isn't really up for choice. Perhaps BrokenCyde (music) would be a more fitting analogy. If I, or you I assume, one day wake up with a craving for BrokenCyde it would be a negative thing I'm sure.

My dislike for the hype stems from the fact that bands like Negura Bunget did the disjointed/disharmonized thing already way back in the 90s, and these newer bands aren't as groundbreaking as people want to make them out to be.

Vital Remains - Dechristianize.

The slow part right after the solo. Sends me into some form of shivering bliss.

EDIT:

Also, when the vocals kick in on Forest Of Impaled's Forward The Spears. Fucking hell, it psyches me up.

Probably my favorite VR song. I actually need to listen to more of their albums since I only have that one. Any recs?

Forever Underground, then Dawn of the Apocalypse.

Guitar solo/lead on Empyrium - Ode to Melancholy.

Borknagar - Colossus, specially 'The stream of mortality flows uncontrolled' line.

Let Us Pray and Into Cold Darkness. Not just because they're the first two... they're more epically evil and less wanky than the others, imo.

In the song Godheads Lament by Opeth, theres the acustuic part wich is fantastic, but after that when guitars come in, around 5:50, thats the part when i usually cum.
