Everybody is crying because after a few posts of screw the Beatles I simply said screw Syd Barrett

I have heard bits of Syd barrett stuff and dont see anything in it.

I dont see any "ignorance" on my take of Barrett or Pink Floyd, he was there briefly and gone for years, their music changed and the music that is Pink Floyd came years later.

How about Ummagumma, did anyone mention that ? Atom Heart Mother ?

No I dont check blind links. If its something worth reading you can place your important quotes here.

Its a video of an interview with the band after releasing dark side of the moon. They gave syd credit for their sound. I can't embed it so just watch it.

"Screw Syd Barrett" is a dumb thing to say.

Both ultimately experimental failures, in my opinion. Good albums, but there was still too much of the psychedelic influence. As I've said earlier, Syd leaving was a good move. But Syd is partly responsible for forming Pink Floyd and essentially setting them on their path. So you can't really say "screw Syd Barrett."

I was only trying to align myself with the rest of the magnificant planets

Dark Side of the Moon RULES, screw Syd Barrett

Im just so rad man, how could I say such an outlandish thing? Or is the problem I used "screw" instead of "fuck" ?

**I do agree with the psych era opinion of "no country", I can barely tolerate it. A bit of Hendrix's stuff, and maybe an occasional listen to Journey to the Center of the Mind but the rest can go

you are damn close minded alright...
+100 yes he is ...

Hence for Demonoid's post and why it is true with your statement... you want us all to accept your opinions about this or that (SRV mostly) yet your close minded to anyone else's opinion on the opposite side as well as close minded about alot of things including music.

Oh I see, but none the less screw Syd Barrett and thank you very much for David Gilmore, that is all I have been saying. There was nothing at all regarding anyones opinion on Syd other than I heard a little and didnt like it. Along shot from what ever suffering unfaithful and blacktoes has going on.

unfaithful - Im only closed minded to shit music, thats why I stay out of the shit music threads... no differently than you are closed minded to the existance of neoclassical metal or blacktoe is to rap cover art.... lol No one has to accept my opinions or statements about the facts, only respect them, and not say stupid shit about legitimate musicians. See I didnt say Syd "sucked" I just said screw Syd Barrett the Floyd we all know and love is Dark Side and beyond, hardly an inaccurate statement. Are you off your meds or something ?

Ian Anderson ? Did someone mention Ian Anderson...... {fights off the urge to post lyrics}

Personally, I like Floyd's earlier stuff (Ummagumma, Meddle, Atom Heart Mother) when it was all 4 members writing and not just Waters. Animals (my favourite from after DSOTM) wasn't too bad, and Dark Side of the Moon wasn't either, but really that was when they became commercial, and ended up blinded by success. My favourite from them is Meddle and Ummagumma. Atom Heart Mother isn't too bad either.

The reason why everyone knows Dark Side and such is because that is when they became big. That was their first taste of being comerciallized. To me, all the stuff after that just went down hill, with Roger Waters taking complete control. (See the Final Cut's credits: "By Roger Waters, Performed by Pink Floyd") I liked it better when all of the members were all contributing.

I actually love The Final Cut, but I also love Waters. I prefer his solo records over Gilmour's records.

I personally think their songwriting improved when the balance between Waters and Gilmour was achieved (Meddle, Dark Side, Wish You Were Here). I don't think they were "blinded" by success. I think they were overwhelmed by it. If you listen to Waters talk about why he wrote The Wall, you can tell that they were having a difficult time dealing with their success.

my drummer just burned me a copy of Final Cut, not that I havent already heard it at one time but so far Im not in the mood for it. Sounds like it might be winter music, or its mood is too low for me to be going there at this time, I'd rather connect but not so closely.
