Pirate Metal!!

Chris recorded the Keyboards at gavin's home Swabey, same could had be done with other instruments

edit@ look above lulz

Fair enough

Regardless, all this opinion vs opinion stuff is pointless.

You either like Alestorm (like myself) or you don't.

I have no qualms with the vocals in Battleheart/Alestorm.

But for some more good pirate metal, check out Swashbuckle...oh wait. No one likes thrash on here.

I love thrash man wtf

Of course the vocals fit a music, would you put your gay-lover ICS Vortex to sing cob? and i didn't meant tecnicly, beacause tecnicly all scream/growling metal sucks
if you get Alexi, even in the early days, tecnicly he is quite bad, but it fit the fucking song
Ozzy is fucking terrible, but i'd choose him over Dio any fucking day
i'd choose Wilska over Vreth, cuz Wilska sounds much more troll-ish

i'm not friend with Alestorm guys, i do not own them nothing.
why would you say that pro-musicians played the instruments? do you have any proof of that? or you're just making things up from your mind (which is basicly what i see in your posts everyday) and its a matter of taste anyway, they are young, have a lot to learn of course, but in the sense that they're a fairly new band, they are a good band

You missed my point. The vocal styling fits the music, yes, in the same way that Vortex wouldn't fit CoB. I'm just saying that they could find someone who sounds a lot better who also sounds 'piratey'. That is my opinion. The music of Alestorm is really good, but to me the vocals ruin it. And not in a way that I could like get used to either, it just sound so bad/amateurish. I don't know if anyone understands but for me it ruins the music, like it takes away from the feel. I don't feel like I'm listening to a great band on a CD, just like some guy singing over what could be an amazing song.

Look at that "Mutiny" band. They used to suck really bad, because of the vocalist. They tried to do well with him because he was a friend, but it was just holding the band back. They finally replaced him and now check them out, they're fucking incredible.

Chris and Gavin were the only members of Alestorm that were able to make it to Germany for recording, session musicians filled the empty spaces.

Not that it matters.

That is what I read/was told also.

Dani recorded Bass in my stuido before we left

The fact that someone linked you to this and you came here made me LOL hard.

Fair enough

Exactly, all I'm saying is I honestly think they'd be a kickass band if they got a new vocalist.

Alestorm are cool, the music is good. The vocals (on the newer recordings :p) fit with the style of music they play and they have that "pirate" image. Why wouldn't they get signed?

That's not what you said on MSN the other night, don't even say you liked that Battlheart stuff I sent you

Now, people are going to think I'm just saying this because I have something against Battleheart. That's not true, I think this band has the potential to be epic, but the vocals are very poor. To further prove this, Chris and I have no beef, I like him and we've never fought. I feel bad saying it but it's my opinion that they are being held back.

If fucking emo/pop/shite can get signed, then a good band like Alestorm can!

Some pop/emo 'shite' is worthy of getting signed. Even if it wasn't, it still has the potential to make 10X the money any great metal band. I think Alestorm got signed in part due to the fact this 'pirate' image could sell well, also the folky-drinking shit sells too.

Because only losers defend their bands.
People that ZOMGHATECOBOT!!1! and are confident they are good shouldn't have to. They would just let people have their opinions. Besides he wasn't defending shit he was just filling us in. Also, I found it funny someone linked him and he took the time to come here and say that.

Battleheart/Alestorm are good. Like some people have mentioned, the vocals are OK but could definitely be better. I like the music but their musical range is limited to only the Scottish-Pirate theme. Cool but not something I would listen to continuously. Just curious, who is the drummer? Gavin - guitarist, Dani - Bass, Chris - Vocals, Keys, ? - Drums.

Agreed.

It's Frankenstein. He actually does look like the monster in one of the promo pics

Ian Wilson is his name though.

Uh dude..? That's exactly what I said. I said that I didn't like the vocals (but they fit their style) and I liked the music. I even said that "Heavy Metal Pirates" was a good song.

PLEASE, find that convo where I say they suck.

Does he have a UM account? Probably not because I don't see a "Ian" posting in the Alestorm board.
His name is Wilson but he rarely posts.
