POD Live XT versus Boss GT8

I'm trying to work through the best live rig, and considering an "all in one solution"

anyone got experience, comments ?

is there better solution than both.....btw in Australia these things cost around $800..

I don't know, for live. Line 6 is okay for demo recordings and such, but I can't say I've ever been a huge fan of the sound when I've played through the flexitone series.

For $800 I'd be looking for a 2nd hand 5150 head...

got a nice jcm800 head, although wouldn't mind a 5150, I heard a Laney head a couple of weeks ago, great live sound

Are you happy with the sound of the JCM800? Would you be using the effects board for distortion sounds as well as effects?

If you're just after effects, you can get them as seperate analogue pedals, or in one of the TC Electronics units. I always advocate using amp sounds over digital emulations, especially if you're using the digital emulation THROUGH a tube amp. It seems a bit self defeating to me, I guess.
