So i'm starting to try to get my metal recordings as tight as possible by editing the ends of each chug or whatever right to the grid and tight to the kicks, but for some reason i'll sometimes get popping and clicking when chopping it right to the grid. What am i doing wrong and what can i get to avoid pops and clicks?

Thanks!

Every DAW program I have ever used has a way to do this built in. Mess around with your program and I'm sure you can figure it out. What software are you using?

i use cubase, it has a snap to zero crossing feature so you can only chop it up at when the wave hits the "middle line" also you can quickly add fades in cubase just drag the little blue arrows in the top corners in

do your edits, don't bother with the fades, then, when you're done select all, and drag the fade tabs at te beginning and end of a section in. or set your DAW to do this automaitcally. this also works for sections with alot of crossfades.
