Post-USSR scene

Temnozor is probably my favorite Russian band. I also like a couple of the Blazebirth Hall bands, particularly Forest and Branikald.

Yes, that's how we sometimes refer to that region.

i assumed that... i didn't know if he was thinking of Russia specifically or Russia and Ukraine, etc.

Anyway, yeah there are lots of great bands from that area. Nokturnal Mortum are one of my favs. Drudkh is good. Temnozor are very good. I don't know alot of the obscure bands though.

Katalepsy - Musick Brings Injuries
Fleshgore - Wake Up For Freedom
Abominable Putridity - In The End Of Human Existence
Sufferatory - Pseudophilosophic
Pagan Reign - Tverd
Ashen Light - Pesn' Velesa
Nokturnal Mortum - Mirovozzrenie/Weltanschauung
Astrofaes - Dying Emotions Domain
Nav' - Halls Of Death

I don't own a single CD from a Russian band. Tell me what's the cream of the crop.

I'm from Belarus, so let me introduce the worthiest (as for me).
That's what I can recall for now from black metal or nearly:

ID: VISION - http://www.myspace.com/idvisionkaos
Infestum - http://www.myspace.com/infestum
Medievil - http://www.myspace.com/medievilmetal
Nechrist - http://www.myspace.com/nechristofficial
Nightside Glance - http://www.myspace.com/nightsideglance
Raventhrone - http://www.myspace.com/raventhroneband
Solarward - http://www.myspace.com/solarwardband (not the worthiest but as for small advertisement)

Yeah, good album. Some people are saying it sounds "mallcore" but I think a lot of people are deaf. They added some electronic and groovy influences, but it's still heavy as fuck tech death!
