Okay, what are some good power metal bands I can check out? YES, i'm talking about the high-pitched vocals, soaring melodies and speedy guitars style! The cheesier the better! :D I'm currently listening to SONATA ARCTICA and EDGUY and DRAGONFORCE but I want more dammit@!

Dream Evil is really really good.

Try ummm...

Power Quest
Iron Savior
Angra
Freedom Call
Vision Divine
Kamelot
Symphony X

Oh, and if you like Edguy, try their project Avantasia. A gem!

And no, speed metal ain't cheesy!

SYMPHONY X!!!!

Though they have lot's of prog influence. Or are they are prog band with lots of power influence. Oh well, they are the best band ever...

Also check out Angra. They are very very very good...

Ah, power metal is great. My fave genre outside Prog.

These rock:

Helloween
Gamma Ray
Blind Guardian
Stratovarious
Demons & Wizards
Freedom Call
Kamelot
ANGRA
And basically everything else that has been mentioned.

Basically what everyone else has said already:

Blind Guardian (the best power metal that money can buy)
Helloween
Gamma Ray
Iced Earth
Evergrey
Jag Panzer

Lost Horizon is the best power metal band ever IMO, I like only a few power metal bands, but these guys are one of my favorite METAL bands, and the cheese wiz is poured on THICK, I love processed cheese food stuffs.

I only like a few bands- but they are very good- Conception, Kamelot, Labyrinth( the singer is god awful though), and Symphony X. Holy Land by Angra is pretty good too.

There is one Iron Savior Cd I really liked- it sounded like Judas Priest on East German Steroids.

Same here... Awesome selection, man! Conception and Angra are the best power metal bands out there, IMO!

Even though Holy land and Flow aren't exactly power metal...
