This is the hardest decision we have ever had to make, but it is with great regret that we

must inform you of the cancellation of ProgPower UK 3.

We have made no secret of the financial difficulties that have dogged our first two years,

which is why we had to make a significant number of changes before we decided to commit to a

third year. However, ticket sales have been extremely poor – just about 50% of what was

required to break even, in fact. As a result, there is no way we can stage the festival

without losing a substantial amount of money again, and given the losses incurred in 2006

and 2007 this is something we just cannot afford to do.

This decision has not been taken lightly. We have worked very hard to build up ProgPower UK

and keep the dream alive, but the reality of the situation is staring us in the face and we

simply cannot afford to keep pumping money into the festival. We are obviously extremely

sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience that this decision will cause you, and

although it is of no consolation, we can assure you that we are as disappointed about this

as you are.

ProgPower UK LLP will cease trading with immediate effect. As the festival will now not be

taking place, any monies due for performing will not be paid. In due course, a liquidator

will be appointed if appropriate.

Please direct any enquiries to enquiries@progpoweruk.com All enquiries will be dealt with,

but please be patient.

It is hard at this point in time to convey in words our own disappointment at having to make

this tough decision and we do fully appreciate the difficulties that it will cause you. We

would however like to sincerely thank you for working with us on ProgPower UK over the past

few months.

The ProgPower UK Team

Obviously very disappointing news...but from a business perspective it can be the only sensible decision as you cannot continue to lose money hand over fist in these ventures.

Thanks to the PPUK team for all their hard work over the past few years....we will miss ya!!!

So they're done for good? Or just this year? Shame either way...

It's such a shame that what could be an EPIC annual event has been reduced to ashes before it could even strike up a tradition. I never made it to one of them :( Where will prog/power lovers go now?

Made it to the first year, and was thinking of going this year. Never got round to getting a ticket, as I've just sorted out a new job

Shame its come to an end, but they've done it for the right reasons

Seems like there still may be a gathering that weekend in Bristol. Some people have no refund options on hotels and flights and are going to make the trip anyway.

Some are even trying to get a small gig organised from what I can glean

It's been a while since I've posted anywhere and, to be honest, it's been a while since I've looked at what festivals are available to go to. So I finally decide that I want to go and see something and find that Bloodstock indoor has been cancelled and now progpower. I think my metal heart has been ripped out from backside and rubbed against something pink and fluffy. Makes you wonder if it's just the English/British metal fans that are letting us down or whether this also happens in Europe. We still have BOA but to be honest, I went once and don't really want to go again. There was something about the intimacy of the indoor that was pretty special. Hehe, there was nowhere for the bands to hide so harassing them was very easy.

Tbh I do sympathise, as we have a similar kind of problem down here on the local scale, and I expect it'll be true wherever you go. You can tailor-make gigs to what people are crying out for, but whether these people are prepared to put their money where their mouths are is a different matter - even taking jobs/coursework into account. It's disheartening to see something like this flounder, though I've never been familiar enough with the bands playing to consider going. Hats off to those involved for trying though.
