Okay, this is going to be a daunting task, but much like the mighty Warrior of Ice in the Emerald Sword saga, I believe I can accomplish this task!

We are going to have a vote for the best Metal album of 2005. I don't care what any metal magazine says, I care what all of you have to say!

Start going through your album collection and ready your nominations! The album has to have been released in 2005. That's the only criteria, anything goes!

Based on the number of responses to this thread, near the end of December, I will post the nominations and we will have a CLOSED BID VIA EMAIL to determine the winner!

The winning band will get a beautiful certificate printed off on my sleek Brother HL-1440 laser printer. The certificate will certify that all the members of this forum voted them the best for 2005. For any band that values it's fans, this will be worth more than gold. (It will also prove that I am the Metal Dork Supreme Chancellor of Dorkdom for Life ... so there )

SO start listening and start posting! I can't wait to see what you all come up with because I'm sure it will give me more music to check out.

Oh crap, I wanted my first nomination to be Sonata Arctica's RECKONING NIGHT but apparently it came out in late 2004!!! Sheesh, has it been that long?!

I would have nominated SA on the strength of a single track off of Reckoning Night and that track is "White Pearl, Black Oceans." That is easily their best song ever and I would consider it the band's "Bohemian Rhapsody" if you will.

Dammit! Now I have to go back to the CD rack and look over everything again...
