project stability / performance with pod farm

I know a studio around me that I do session work for has done this.

They have a quad-core Mac Pro with 6 or 8 gigs of Ram I believe running OSX 10.5 (leopard) That computer can handle anything though....

EDIT: Oh yeah, and they run both Cubase 5 and pro tools HD

I usually run Gearbox (basically the same thing) and can run 20+ instances no prob
When I did try out Pod Farm I got to about 5 and started to get some lag:/
My computer isn't super powerful though
Macbook Pro
mac os x 10.5.6
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 gb Ram

I'm sure a faster computer could run it though
One big gripe I had about Pod Farm (besides cpu) was that when you copy and paste it to another track it resets the settings
Not a huge deal but just kind of bothered me
hahaha

I have a mere 2.4 single-core, with XP maxed out ram (comes to like 3gb)

i had 4 instances running today, with a Superior 2.0, compressions, etc, and i was only pullin about have of my CPU and RAM usage. I reckon i could take a nothing 4 of PodFarm just fine, making it a good 8-10. That's on a single core too. Oh, and Reaper. <-- !!!

And i've never had a problem dragging PodFarm to another track and having it retain settings. But that might be Reaper saving it as well...

I`m also using Reaper an I just drag and drop it from one fx window to another, and no settings ever got lost.
Also never had any problems regarding PODFarm in Cubase either.
Not sure how CPU intensive it is, since I run a quad core E6600 at 3GHz, but stability so far is pretty impressive.

I can run 4 instances of PODFARM on guess what ---- and old AMD cpu and 512MB ram no joke!!

mine was on the last series of mac pro's - its a 8x2.8ghz (2 xeon quads). i went for 4gb ram.

its not even been close to getting maxed out and thats mixing projects with huge track counts, virtual instruments everywhere, resource heavy plugs everywhere and on the lowest buffer size.

Never bothered using more than 4 instances. No lags with 4, though. I'm sure it can handle a little more. My config is Core 2 Duo 2.66ghz, 2GB of Ram, Windows XP sp3.:Smug:

P.S. My hdd is super-fucked.
