Punk

black flag and ramones ftfw

i like raw stuff and germs are too raw for my taste even, and by raw i mean i'm pretty sure nobody in the band played an instrument when they started

you should really get some poison idea, best punk band to ever come out of portland...pick your king, record collectors are pretentious assholes, kings of punk, anything really

I love thrash and play in a thrash band....or so i thought. We played our first show to about seventy people not bad for a little show and my boss and everyone after wards came up and was like WOW I HAD NO CLUE YOU PLAYED IN A PUNK BAND. To which i respond ...I didnt either. Every guy in my band loves punk and I write short thrash songs, but I guess I never realized all the drum beats and bass lines are punk and my other guitar player plays off beat hardcore riffs. i mean like old hardcore. Like Black Flag, Minor Threat and old Converge hardcore. Not new shit. Anyway so it was even harder for me to deal with considering we cover Black Metal by Venom and Armageddon by Bathory.

I realized recently that my punk collection is fucking woeful - only about 12 albums, and that's even counting some questionable stuff like "London Calling." When I get some money, I think I'm going to purchase the following:

MINOR THREAT - The Complete Discography
THE GERMS - (GI)
BLACK FLAG - Damaged
THE DAMNED - Machine Gun Etiquette
THE RAMONES - Rocket To Russia

Would these give me some cred?

Great selection there. I am unfamiliar with The Germs but all the others kick much ass. Both the Minor Threat and Black flag get me all wound up and crazy when I put them on.

venom and bathory are two of the metal bands that have some sort of punk credibility, i.e. smelly crusties can wear their patches next to amebix and doom and whatnot and not have to be ashamed of it

so sorry but you play in a punk band

friday, tiny club in portland, gonna fucking rage. always stoked to see these bands but they never play together, especially in a club as small as this one.
