Putting on a desktop recorder while you mix?

Yeah i would love to see some mix videos as well, and i nominate Dave Otero for the task. :lol::headbang: Come on Dave at least you could do is make us a drum edit vid.
 
Well...I think the best way to do the high quality audio of what the person doing the vid is hearing and have a mic going so they can talk about their actions would be possible if they use two computers at the same time. One doing the project (mixing, editing, whatever) and the other one recording the output of their interface and the mix they are talking into. Would be really simple that way...

Marcus: Well, I have a G5, PowerBook and a PC, but not everyone does so I suppose you're right there haha.

Hmm, looks like Jing is not only free, but does record good video and audio. If the user has their interface setup as their main system input/output as well as their interface for use in their host (logic, cubase, etc.) then I think it would be possible to capture the audio all in one place. Plug a mic into the interface and just monitor it while doing the mix, Jing seems like it would record the mic as well. The only thing I see that may cause a problem is any possible issues of using while working in the host, Jing will take up resources like any other program.

I wanted to bump this up a little to say that I have contacted Splatt and Behindert about this and I got very positive reactions from them, so hopefully we are going to see some mixing videos from them soon. Also Dimi has offered to make some new videos for us!

I also contacted Machinated, so I'm eager to see what he's gotta say about this! :)

Isn't the guy from Panic Room Studios (i cant remember his name right now) working on a DVD like this? He had some videos up on youtube that were really cool to watch where he went through some of his mixes.

I just can't figure out how to get the "master" volume recorded with the soundcard in my pod x3 :p i just get the guitaroutput from the pod itself..
anyone?
