question for the well-versed

[Black Winter Day]

in john updike's novel "the centaur", on the final page, is a paragraph of greek characters. what the hell are they saying??? anyone read this book or have a clue as to what the greek translates to in english???

my search for understanding will probably remain fruitless, but it is worth a try.

unless its ancient greek, then your fucked, i dont think any word program has ancient greek in it. i could be wrong.

I took ancient greek in college for one semester. it seemed to last an eternity, and I remember absolutely nothing of it.
