Since I'm selling the Recto tomorrow I sort of wanted to give it a quick run under the mic next to my 5150 and make sure I wasn't going to seriously regret the sale

Anyways here's the results...Overall I am pretty surprised at how similar the general character is between the two clips but there is definitely a discernible difference...

Yeah, man I noticed the same thing with my Rectoverb this week. I've been working on tones and comparing mine to some of the guys on this forum and some of those clip's happened to be through 5150's and I noticed that the Rectoverb actually sounds pretty comparable to a 5150. Your clips seem to reinforce that theory of mine.

Wow, they do sound incredibly similar, but they also have this bizarre "squelchy" sound that I'm really not a fan of. What guitar/pickups were you using? Also might be that the mic was too far from the dustcap, there's a fair bit of cloudiness in there, but still, something seems off. Great playing though, and trust me, that sounds NOTHING like a Dual Rec! (and since it sounds so much like your 5150, you've already got that base covered, so why not trade the Rectoverb for something different sounding? :goggly: )

Guitar was a mahogany body Ibanez RG with an 81 in the bridge. Used a TS7 in the chain with drive at 9 oclock, tone at 12 oclock, level at 1 oclock. Here's pics of the other details...

Hmm, might be phase cancellations coming from the floor, cuz everything else looks good. Surprised how low you have the treble on the Mesa though!

Hmm, on both amps no less - could maybe do with a bit more of that!
