I don't know how they pull it off, but any person on a reasonably-laid-out Japanese food label looks authoritative and dignified.
I would seriously have a hard time refusing culinary advice from some random Japanese-looking adult on the street if s/he looked like the sort of person who could be placed on such a food label. Perhaps this is a weakness. I care not, since any harm resulting from such would seem somehow glorious and dignified if it was justified by an honorable-looking character on a respectably foreign food label.
