rare prog from early 70s

The Arzachael tunes are great. I definitely hear elements of what would go into Egg, which isn't surprising I guess considering Stewart and Campbell are in the band. I'm definitely going to pick up the cd when it becomes available again from Freak.

Vile Excesses is a great song. I'm digging the Mellow Candle as well. Great vocal parts with instrumentation that matches well. Looking forward to more listens of both.

awesome, im glad you like them. ill send you one more song from each if i can.

i checked out a few of those stations. i was actually quite impressed with the variety they had most of the time. they played a lot of modern progressive stuff which i wasnt terribly into...but some other stuff i dont get to hear very often either. ill continue to listen to them too...i recommend anyone interested check these out.

@NFU: What are your thoughts on Anglagard? Check out a song called Kung Bore by them if you haven't already. I can send anyone some stuff if they are interested, just PM me.

Anglagard is (was) a fantastic band, who along with landberk and anekdoten pretty much forged the best of the modern progressive bands in my opinion. Certainly the most artsy, complex and interesting of the swedish scene of the time. I still listen to them frequently, along with white willow's older material which is fairly similar. And if you havent heard "Wobbler" yet, certainly check them out...theyre an up and coming progressive band with some great songwriting under their belt already without an official release yet. heres their website: http://wobbler.gab.net/

I'm very grateful Joey told me about Anglagard, and supplied me both albums. They are such a great band. I adore their albums.

Has anyone heard the extra tracks on the Linda Perhacs' album?(the demos and stuff).

yes i have. i have the cd edition which came with them as well. what is perhaps my favorite song from linda was one of the demo tracks never actually featured on the original album titled "if you were my man".

ironically i just brought home my linda poster from the custom framing shop today too. perhaps i can take a picture of it and post here.

and here it is, as promised:

mh, i wondered if any of you know bands that wandered together with pink floyd and made/music comparable to DSOTM/wish you were here/animals (my faves). i am not searching for a rip off, rather some material that can dare pink floyd especially in terms of guitarplaying (guitar > all) and terms of composition (thinking about shine on you crazy diamond).
i have followed some advices here and found great new music (caravan, paatos...) but i'd really like to know if there's comparable stuff out there...

i will be ordering nectar - journey to the center... and camel - snow goose tomorrow...

hoping for recommendations!

well to be honest, there was a lot of people that came close to "meddle" like material...but i havent heard any really decent attempts at DSOTM type material...perhaps abhorsen can shed some light on this though? It seems pink floyd broke the mold with that album, and perhaps thats why its as great as it is? :)

i guess they did...

...if the bands/albums you talk about are comparable to echoes i am interested because echoes > rest of meddle imo.

i am waiting for a musical encouter that is as good as my encouter with WYWH...

btw: the jacket you are wearing on those pics on the pic-page is tyler durton style if you have seen fight-club.

you once told me about your fave guitarist (i forgot the name and the search function is disabled)...would you take the time to re-mention his name and some infos like which album/songs to check out and stuff and share a few thoughts on his style?

edit: is ash ra worth listening?

i thought tyler durden wore a red leather jacket in that movie? i only saw it once or twice, so i cant quite remember.

ash ra temple is quite good imo...as is gong, arzachel and magma...all similar in style.

the guitarist you speak of that i mentioned here is reine fiske. he was the guitarist on paatos' first album, along with landberk, morte macabre, and frequent appearances on the dungen discography, as well as some material on the latest emma nordenstam album.

hes not flashy, hes not the most technical, but he has amazing and unique tones which are always different in every band...as well as remarkable phrasing, emotion and "perfect notes" imo.

my other favorite guitarists are Steve Howe (Yes), Andy Latimer (Camel), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Jimmy Page (Duh), and many others...im sure youre somewhat familiar with most of them...but i recommend all works by these artists too.

keep giving yes a shot...theyre a wonderful band.

yea, amazon should have at least a few samples of his playing depending on the release. if not, ill help you find somewhere that does.

ah, i see...well i guess its a semi similar styled jacket if nothing else. ;)
