rare prog from early 70s

I was going to suggest getting them from the Porcupine Tree site, but I just checked it out, and the presale for LA is sold out :\

I know it sucks. I was planning on having a couple of my friends that have never heard PT to come along, but I can't really ask them to pay that much for a band that they have never heard/might not like.

And since I don't really have any friends that like PT, I would have to go by myself, which would suck, so I guess I'm over it.

haha, i go to ALL of my shows alone, cause my friends don't like the same bands. you really can't talk to friends anyway, when there is loud music being played..it doesn't really bother me being alone there, personally. this show will be no different, i'll be going solo haha.

I've been to shows alone before, but it isn't as fun for me

i went to slayer alone...it wasn't as fun, actually, you don't have anyone to talk to after the show, to talk about how good it was

ya that's the part you miss when you are alone. I like talking in between bands, and in between the songs in a set.

HAHA i thought I was the only loner on here, I went to see Opeth alone and thought it was all the greater for it. Not having to worry about loosing your friends or small talk adds greatly to the concert experience. If I go again I will go alone.

concerts are a social experience....to not be social makes very little sense to me. especially since theres about 15-20 minutes before the show, between each band, and after the show with NOTHING going on, except to talk about how good or bad the previous band was.

to prefer going to a show by ones self instead of with friends is a practice of anti social degeneracy.

Ive done both. In fact, i flew up north (of NZ) to see a band alone...and it was still alot of fun. Talking to strangers at concerts can be hilarious....*thinks back to dude telling me to lick his girlfriend if i was thirsty, because she totally got water spilled on herself*

yes, but one can interact with strangers just as easily when theyre with friends...just dont ignore anyone?

can anyone offer their recommendation for a good nightingale album to start with? swanö rules and i'm interested in checking them out but i've never heard any of their stuff...

yea...dont buy nightingale. Its pretty bad. swano die hards like it though, so i guess its up to you.

if i had to recommend some swano work, id say the crimsons or moontower, or the unicorn albums (cheesey, but actually well put together for young kids).

i'll check out moontower, i've had the crimsons on my list for a long time actually. the reason i ask is i really like the sorskogen song, i was wondering where i could find more stuff like that, i.e. mellow and proggy but kinda dark, sans cheese. any thoughts?

Just ordered my PT ticket. $19, from the PT site > $20.50 from ticketmaster
:)

My ticket was $16. Of course, Cleveland is a shitty place. I'd rather pay 30 bucks to see them just about anywhere else.

well, sorkskogen is nothing like nightingale. Stuff like sorkskogen = paatos, landberk, morte macabre, anekdoten, etc

Moontower is great. (prog/dm)
Unicorn - Emotional Wasteland. if you can stand the cheesiness of some of this, its actually quite good and quite depresssing. (dare i say alternative)
Nightingale - well, i fit under that category of "swanö fanboy" so i'd say they're all good. the best one stands out by far though: Alive Again (4th album). it has the best production and the songs tend to come off with less meandering, more direct approach. (this is practically rock, maybe a little heavier at times)

if you like Dan's singing, you'll like all 3. if you like his growling only, probably only Moontower. instrumentally i think they're all fairly good, but Moontower stands out as better.
