Good news for Nektar fans in Germany, the UK and Brasil: from September until November, Nektar will play several concerts in these countries. (There´s also one concert in Chile, one in Switzerland and one in Mexico - the latter is not confirmed yet.) The exact touring dates are to be found on their official website here.

It also seems that the German TV-station WDR Fernsehen will finally show the entire Nektar-concert taped in March for the "Rockpalast"-programme, namely on August 29 from 0.55 to 2.55 h CET (as you can read on this page - if you do understand German). Actually, it was two concerts and it also says electric and acoustic, so I wonder which version of which song will be shown on TV. Already 9 days before, namely on August 20, the German TV-station 3sat will show 45 minutes of one of these concerts between 1.20 and 2.05 h CET. I´ll try to tape it all on video to make sure I don´t miss anything.

i've gotta say, i've only had Jethro Tull's 'thick as a brick' for a few months, and it's definetly in my top 5 favorite albums EVER. fuck, it's so good, i can listen to it right after it ends again, and it doesn't even phase me.

right on. its definitely a quality album. if you havent yet...check out the wobbler debut album...it actually shares a lot of commonalities with thick as a brick...

never seen such amazing energy and an insane melodic holocaust. i felt like i was on acid, haha. i highly recommend seeing them live if/whenever you can.

I hate to sound like a troll but as much as Dungen's music rocks the lyrics are just too damn lame to endure. Normally I don't care that much about lyrics, but I almost wish I didn't know swedish when I listen to them. In my opinion he's trying too hard to make the lyrics sound "proggy", as it were.

Deep Purple are goin to release a DVD of live stuff from 72/73. Sounds like a kick ass DVD, deffinately one of the best live bands around that time. There are two parts one in B&W and the other in Colour.

Normally I don't care that much about lyrics, but I almost wish I didn't know swedish when I listen to them. In my opinion he's trying too hard to make the lyrics sound "proggy", as it were.

i dont speak swedish, but ive heard something similar to this before about dungen's lyrics. i do know he used to do a lot of drugs...(maybe still does)...so i dont know...maybe that has something to do with it.

i am not much into riverside myself either. they are ok-ish but they never really got me with any of their tunes...

i agree on the riverside thing. i bought the cd because everyone was raving about it, and I think it's pretty cool, but to me, the album doesn't seem to flow very well, and the instrumental passages tend to get a little boring

no offense...but a lot of people here also rave about orphaned land, disillusion, woods of ypres, and other such garbage....so

however riverside is probably better than those bands. *shrug*

I downloaded "Loose Heart" off of that Riverside album, and really liked it, so I thought the rest of the album would be pretty good, but I ended up a little disappointed. so no, I didn't buy a cd just because someone recommended it

Yeah... of all the bands inspired by Opeth, only Farmakon is really impressive. I enjoy that album as much as any of the Opeth albums, and even though the instrumentation is very very similar, they have a totally different(quirky) vibe, that Opeth would probably never have. Which is why I'm thankful that they exist.

i did that several times. and i only got good stuff that way...surely you have to know who is recommending something tho...
