rc home ec thread

i was a cook for 6 or so years in a prime restaurant. i can cook like a fucking maniac tbh. thats problem one of the few things RC doesnt know about me after all these years.

make me a sandwich!

ahemm...

Listening to Kingdom Come and Candlemass, editing photos I took at the last show, planning to buy stuff for coocking sushi (rolls), getting ready to go to the other city for a few days, feeling like a woman as I dunno which t-shirt to put on.

i like cooking but (and this is going to sound more pathetic than it actually is) there's little point i find in making ambitious food when i'm the only one eating it so most of the time i'm very lazy with food

why didn't i know this already?

i love cooking, don't know TOO much about it, but i hear i'm pretty decent at it!

I love cooking for others, and can barely be bothered to grab a jar of joghurt and a spoon for myself.

Like everyone else apparently, I like cooking and I'm good at it too, especially when we do it together and make fancy shit (Like in an hour or so!). I don't think anyone likes whipping together standard mac'n'cheese fast&easy bachelor meals very much though if ya know whaddamean.
When you make a tasty dish you've never made before and it maybe even has a fancy name, it feels great.

I've been thinking about having a go at making my own bread loaves. Just need to get a bread pan, the rest seems simple enough.

It takes me weeks though to finish a loaf of bread otherwise, so I have a feeling it will be less cost effective as I'll be throwing out stale bread often. Go preservatives.

I'm great at both cooking and baking tbh - When I lived alone I almost never cooked though, could live on tons of snus instead and I kinda miss it. Snus that is. Snus is great.

Yeah, when its just for me I am far too fucking lazy to make anything more than a sandwich or something on the BBQ, but if its for my family and/or girlfriend, WATCH OUT! I'll gladly spend an afternoon in the kitchen, as long as I have good music to accompany me

Cooking is one thing I wish I was good at and had the funds, as well as the kitchen space, to pursue. Any good, preferably cheap, recipes to rec?

bolognese sauce: grate a carrot and an onion, sweat them in a saute pan with olive oil over low/med heat and add garlic, s&p, chili flakes, oregano. add some ground beef and brown it, then add some tomato paste and red wine and let it reduce for a few minutes. add diced tomatoes, a little milk, and more s&p to taste.

also i've made pancakes a couple times recently and if you find a recipe...all it is is flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and powder, butter, milk/buttermilk and eggs...but separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until they're fluffy then fold them into the batter, your pancakes will be fluffier than gaahl's bunny slippers

also if you take a can of tuna and mix it with your hands with a couple eggs and some panko bread crumbs, form into little patty shapes and let it sit 10 minutes, then coat with more bread crumbs and fry em you can make some pretty sweet tuna croquettes. if you do it with canned salmon and chives instead they become salmon cakes.

one of my favorite pasta dishes ever (next to Carbonara). my recommendations: use heavy cream instead and simmer for a minimum of 90 minutes before you add the dairy. then some more
