I know this is dumb, but every time I listen to Moonlapse Vertigo and I get to the little doodle at 4:46 (approx) I think of the Iron Maiden song Wasted Love which has a very similar doodle at 2:06.

Flame away... but be gentle. I think I'm just depressed because I have to wait until the very last show of the tour (2/28) to see them. I can't wait!!

I have a couple more.

1. I know they're both Opeth songs, but these two sound pretty similar. I like BRI better, but only by a little bit.

Opeth - Forest Of October - 1:04

Opeth - Black Rose Immortal - 6:03

2. I know Opeth borrowed it. They are different chords, but it's the same idea.

Opeth - Harvest - 0:46

Iron Maiden - Prodigal Son - 0:55

There are a few more, but I don't know where to look for them. Maybe later.

When I listen to Papa Roach, I hear a few similarities to some Maiden riffs, too. Is that weird? :Smug:

Oh, and if similarities are to be discussed, listen to the pre-chorus guitar lick in Shadows Fall's "Thoughts Without Words" and then listen to Pantera's "Medicine Man."

I call that a rip.

Why do you listen to Papa Roach?

I strongly doubt that any musician who is making a song thinks "That one part of that song is so goddamn cool! I think I'll steal it!"

The only Papa Roach song I really like is Blood Brothers.

I was actually kidding.

Well, any honest musician, anyway.

That one Carcass song has the same thing happening as the papa roach song AND the Iron Maiden song.

Genghis Khan?

The Moor has that part at 4:57, you know "Pale touch, writhing in the embers".. reminds me of that ABBA song "Lay All Your Love On Me". The vocal line is VERY similar.

Cranki > lol, you too?.. when I here "Pale touch, writhing in the embers", my brain automatically continue with "laaaaaaaay all your loooove on me".. I thought I was the only one, lol =/
