Possible?

I guess not, cause all outs are line level and I need instrument level at the amp. Am I getting this right or did I miss something?

What would I need to do it and can you also reamp a mic-ed (through an amp) track?

thx :kickass:

Hey, thanks for the reply!

Damn, I wish I wouldn't have been right... :(
Well, doesn't matter fortunetally I don't really need to reamp anything in particular right now. Was just curious...

Which devices do you all use to reamp and how do you get the clean signal for later use on tape? I guess your clients don't enjoy recording without "real guitarsounds"...

I've done it w/no problem. line level is hotter than instrument level, so you just have to be careful with the signal at the firepod output. i record w/my POD like that often. And i've done it thru my Triaxis/290 as well.

Check out the radial proDI. It's a passive direct box that even includes instructions on how to reamp. only about 90 bucks too! It rules!

If you're broke you can check out the ART passive DIs but they're kinda cheap so i'd go for the Radial if you can

why do you need a reamp box anyway? ive never tried it but i dont see why you cant just turn the signal down in your daw/interface till it matches a line level volume

you could do that but its not going to sound as good as doing it the right way. you can do whatever you want but there are good ways of doing it and really bad. its your choice

yeah and good luck finding the ground lift switch on your DAW if you get a noise loop.

I just gave that another try and surprisingly it worked! :goggly:
There was a lot of noise when I went into the instrument in on the amp, fx return was nicer.
How do you all record your clean tracks? Using something like the Boss LS-2 to send one signal to the amp and a clean one to the interface or some different method?

it will never work out really well 'cause the outputs of the firepod are balanced Low Impedance/Line Level outputs.

The signal going into the guitar amplifier should have the closest carateristics of a guitar signal, which means High Impedance/Instrument Level.

That's the reason why a re-amp box or a good passive DI in reverse is necessary. to make this conversion.

It's just physics, there is nothing you really can do about it. Altough you surely can try without it. But it will not sound the way it should.

to record DI "clean tracks" use an active DI box. or connect the guitar to one of the 2 first intputs of the firepod. with a DI box you can send the signal to you amplifier also and so hear what you do.
