Neuroses Facilitator
I figured I'd start a thread where we talk about what we've been to see in say, the last six months and what, if anything you've got planned to go to, or are riding the fence to see in the next six months.

For me, it's been pretty slim pickins lately as I don't think there's been too many interesting things to see. But I did go to the 1st of two nights at the Chicago Powerfest at J.J. Kelleys in Lansing in early April. The openers that night weren't anything to write home about but the headliner Morgana LeFay were really great. They were heavy as Hell but also melodic and they played a smoking 90 minutes. I missed out on the 2nd night to see Tad Morose as I had some personal problems that came about that day. I did get to meet them that day as the owner of Impulse had these guys plus LeFay in the store for a meet & greet. I was working the counter with TM and trying to ring the customers as well so it was hectic, but fun. I hope to see these guys play in the future as they are a great band.

As for stuff on the horizon goes, the only definite is the ProgPower in Atlanta in September where I will be looking forward to see some great bands, most import of them being Conception. That should be awesome and a good time.

Also, that Gigantour thing looks to be pretty cool that Dave Mustaine has going on. I like a good deal of older Megadeth, as well as being a big fan of Nevermore, Symphony X and as well as some moments of Dream Theater.

I am riding the fence on Judas Priest w/Queensryche at the Tweeter Center (major outdoor arena, capacity of 25,000+). Those two bands are good but I have seen Priest and the Ryche before so it might be a case of the same old going round.

Also I'm tempted to see Whitesnake at the House Of Blues, as well as (laugh if you must) Foreigner play there. They have Jeff Pilson from Dokken playing bass guitar and singing backing vocals, so that might be a cool thing to see. I am a big fan of his.

Nothing else I have seen announced has really excited me so we'll see if anything else comes about.

What about you guys?

Probably UFO next friday and Saxon in October, nothing in between...yet...

Cool that you saw Oliva and Jorn Lande sing. Those guys are awesome! I would love to see Jorn preferably do a tour with his solo material. That stuff is mindbending, especially "Worldchanger"!

Saw King Diamond last week. Saw the Ron Quintana birthday show with Hirax, Brocas Helm, & Abcess a couple of days ago. Next week is Hammers Of Misfortune, High On Fire, and Flametal (KILLER flamenco guitar mixed with metal!!). Here are some pics from the Hirax gig:

My most recent show was Friday. A great line up of British metal starting out with a band called Evil Scarecrow (www.evilscarecrow.com) who were brilliant I spent most of their set laughing at the daft moves and funny lyrics but the chalice of (fake???) blood that was poured over the head of one of the band and the cover of The Final Countdown that they ended with have got to be the funniest things I've seen in ages.
Then it was the Prophecy who aren't really my thing but others in the crowd seemed to enjoy them.
Then it was Fourwaykill who were the band I was out to see. They were awesome and I'm still suffering with a bad neck at the moment from headbanging It was the 7th time I've seen them and they just get better and better although they didn't play many new songs this time round I was pretty happy 'cause I know all the old ones and it's great to be able to sing along. They even had a bit of audience participation during Reclamation Rite which (I think) is the first time I've seen them do that.
The last band Area 54 I have to say I didn't pay much attention to as I was chillin after the Kill, buying Evil Scarecrow CD and a new FWK shirt and chatting to the band. All in all an awesome show and well worth getting out to see.
Check out this link to some photos from the gig if you're interested http://www.richardlucasphoto.co.uk/ Photos dated 13th May The first ones are Evil Scarecrow then The Prophecy then Fourwaykill there isn't any of Area 54.

I think I would like to see Foreigner. I always thought Lou Gramm had a nice set of pipes. I don't know if the guy can still belt it out like he used to, but back in the day, I did some serious jamming to Foreighner.

How far is canada or colorado? Plenty of metal tours go thru there.
well the closest canadian city is Winnepeg, and thats 2 hours away, so i guess i could check to see if anybody's going there, but i dont think i'll be going to colorado, seeing as its 15 hours to their border :ill:

Jon Oliva's Pain this Saturday! Small bar down the street from me.
Judas Priest/Queensryche next month 7th Row
Def Leppard/Tesla next month 15th row
Into Eternity in July. Missed them last time they came here because they got sick. :ill:
WASP/LA Guns/Stephen Pearcy in July, cheap show, cool venue, haven't seen WASP since the Eighties. Should be interesting.

Gigantour in August, waiting for tickets to go on sale. Should be awesome because they are playing Hard Rock Live in Orlando. It only holds 2800 people, very small place for this tour. Not sure why they are playing there but I like it!
ProgPower VI in September. Third year for this!
Maybe Manowar/Rhapsody next month, not sure, it's in Orlando and it's on a Sunday night. It will be a last minute decision.
Same with the Rock Never Stops Tour. In July and might go, might not? :Smug:

Overall it's going to be a pretty busy summer. Hard rock/metal shows are on the rise here in the Tampa area for sure. Great for seeing some these bands, but bad for my wallet. It's getting quite expensive.
