Recommend me some melodeath

Swallow the sun

They're mostly classified like doom, but I see them more as slow dark melodic death metal

well they are doom/death, but the definition of doomdeath pretty much is "slow dark melodic death metal" if you put it that way. but no, they are definitely doom/death metal. I love them btw, can´t wait to hear the new album which is being mixed by Jens Bogren, I haven´t liked the production on any of their albums so far, hopefully this one will kill

Am I the only person alive who actually thinks Fiction is better than The Gallery?

Also, look at Disarmonia Mundi, Daylight Dies, Sybreed, and Threat Signal (borderline MD)

Fiction is good, but to me it isn´t better than damage done or even character, and none of those will ever touch the gallery to my ears.
and daylight dies is pretty much the same genre as swallow the sun, it´s Doom/death, not being a super genre asshole as I really hate this kind of people, just pointing out obvious genre differences

Edit: P-E´s humble opinion is my humble opinion too. I have the version of the gallery with all the covers, I love the metallica cover they do

I use to prefer older DT, but over the last few years the newer stuf fis much more prefered when I feel like listening to them. Damage Done is one of my all time favourites.

This is strickly about bands that are NOT famous Your band is pretty good by the way, just a bit too thrashy for what I'm looking for right now.
I already know the biggest european bands, I'm looking for smaller bands that I either missed or are newer, known only in the USA etc.
Stylewise this is the perfect example of what I'm looking for. Too bad I've already listened Reinkaos like thousand times

fuck yes, I cant wait to hear their new album. I liked the production on Hope though . I don't understand why this band is not know as band like behemoth, they're fucking great, they have a really nice atmosphere going on in their songs. The Giant is epic...

Hope was definitely a step up (the morning never came probably has their best songs but such a crappy production job it hurts IMO), but the new one will be killer. A shame it's titled just like one of the twilight books, bad timing hahaha

I agree about Hope, such a killer album, both the music and the production. I dig a lot of songs on ghost of loss too, in fact the giant is my favorite STS song. I don't really like the morning never came, I like deadly nightshade, hold this woe and the title track, but the rest never really got me.

Sing of Existance is a great album but Asphyxiated and Inflammable is their best song IMO.

I listened to that quite stoned and noticed that the song had like dozen of riffs and they all had a different mood to them in a bad and confusing way. Way too modern in a wrong way for me too


Sober impressions : Sounds like Soilwork with inferior vocals and bad production (for my taste)

Swallow the Sun is kind of good, but for some reason I can't get into them as much as I'd like. There's always something I don't like in them, and it's just too depressing to go through a whole album by them

I didn't get into DT Gallery either, feels like ATG did the fast melodeath thing better on Slaughter of the Soul. DT's Fiction is a great one btw, I should listen to it asap. Didn't yet check the more obscure bands
