iTunes just put up a shitload of old school metal like Slaughter, Xentrix, Agent Steel, Laaz Rockit, Sacred Oath, Ripping Corpse, Holy Moses, Running Wild, Necronomicon (the self titled one is excellent German thrash, the other is Canadian tech death), Nasty Savage and the like. Check those bands out (getting their CDs or cassettes on eBay will probably be a lot cheaper though)

Xentrix - For Whose Advantage, Laaz Rockit - Annihilation Principle, Slaughter - Strappado are fucking awesome. btw i've only heard Necronomicon - Escalation and i thought it was pretty good, is the self titled one better? if so i'll check it out.

Well, technically, Escalation is a better album. But the self titled is a lot more balls out, sloppier and has that debut album feeling/energy. Depends on what you are looking for.

But their first two albums did have a kind of unique sound. It wasn't completely standard thrash/speed. There was something else mixed in, I can't describe what exactly. Almost like a Hellhammer influence.

Anacrusis!

One of the most overlooked and under-appreciated Thrash bands ever. Suffering Hour, was an especially awesome record. Also, I'm pretty sure the entire records are posted here on their official site (it's ooooooold, but mostly works.) Link.

Yep - I just listened to "Sound the Alarm" on my Ipod and that was one hell of a band. Another group that never got any recognition and just faded away.

Liege Lord. Excellent American power/speed metal, kind of in the same vein as Agent Steel. The vocalist on Master Control (Joe Comeau or something like that, I think he's the guy that joined Tad Morose) sounds almost exactly like Bruce Dickinson on the album. Check it out

I was actually listening to a couple of songs from the earlier on today. They're an excellent band.
You can get their CDs on Amazon for like 2 bucks, or at least it used to be that way

King Diamond. Pretty much anything. You like guitar solos? You like duels? With guitar solos? Legendary vocalists? Usually amazing drumming? Bass...

I think everyone here knows The King.

Another band to check out is Anti-Ben. Just look them up on Myspace. The music is shit, but it is hilarious. If tears aren't rolling down your face during Under The Rug Of Rats, you don't have a sense of humor.

actually the only unknown bands in that list would be Moonlyght and Profugus Mortis... people on UM usually know about the others. But good list, you could add to it Beneath the Massacre and Horfixion
