As you can see by the thread I linked to, I kind of think so too, just not metal, but other sad stuff (mostly from the 60's).
Type O Negative is also my favorite band, but I wouldn't exactly call their music ballads, as the rest of their stuff sounds the same (except for "Slow..." & "Origin...").
