I'll let this one stand seeing as I only posted the rules thing about half an hour ago and I'm tired, but ask for these things in the "Thread Where You Talk About Music You Like" thread PLEEEASE. Recommendation threads are EVERYWHERE at the moment. At least this one's slightly unusual...

i think the topic at hand is the language thing, not the reccomendation part

Prime recommendation is Negurã Bunget from Romania, then Arckanum from Sweden who have lyrics in old (About 13th century I think) Swedish, Horna or Azaghal for Finnish, Taagefolket, Angantyr or Holmgang for Danish, Taake for Norwegian... Well, that's all for now. Lots of (Primarily black metal or related) bands from Scandinavia use their native language.

Ulver- "Bergtatt", "Kveldssanger", and "Nattens Madrigal"(actually I think those albums are in archaic Danish or something)
Borknagar- self-titled
Nargaroth-"Rasluka Part II"
I think Enslaved sings in their native tongue sometimes and Burzum too.

Children of Bodom's lyrics seem to be written in gibberish. Does that count? :)

- Vintersorg are pretty talented, but they aren't really my scene.
- I second Finntroll
- Also Borknagar self titled is a good recommendation
- Maybe even Brujeria the mad mexicans.
- Then I suppose you look towards bands like Burzum if you are looking for ambient black metal. I'd suggest 'Det Som Engang Var' which is the only song by them I really enjoy.

Windir (Norwegian? -- sometimes) - folk/viking/black metal
Ajattara (Some archaic dialect of Finnish, I think) - dark metal
Angantyr (Danish?) - ambient / black metal
Månegarm (Swedish?) - folk/viking/black metal
Wojnar (Polish) - folkish-ambient

Does Pan-Thy-Monium count? :D

Bethlehem- "S.U.I.Z.I.D." (German) or give any of their other early works a spin. Their albums have a kind of weird, creepy, suicidal vibe to them, often classified as "dark metal."
