Recommend two CDs!

Grave Digger - Excalibur: I usually recommend their self titled album, so anyone who has that and not 'Excalibur', pick this up as well, and anyone who doesn't have either, get both! :D
A heavy medievil power metal concept album (without classic power metal vocals), about the life of King Arthur, Excalibur, Camelot, etc. Awesome concept album, awesome power metal album, awesome album. Actually, after listening to this album yesterday after Spawny called GD cheesey made me realise how awesome this album really is. It is more like a heavy metal musical about King Arthur than a concept album, it is awesome.
If possible, pick up the Grave Digger 'Middle Ages Trilogy' box set, which features three of their albums including 'Excalibur', and they are all awesome, with great bonus tracks.
Download such tracks as 'Excalibur', 'The Spell', and 'Lancelot' for a sample. :headbang:

Katatonia - Last Fair Deal Gone Down: This is one of the sludgiest moody doom-esque melancholic sounding albums I have heard, and I love it. More mature sounding than their earlier stuff (which can be compared to Opeth), but I think they are a better band than Opeth. Clean vocals, and a very powerful sound that may take a few listens to get into, but it hits you hard when you do. Download such songs as 'Dispossession', 'Chrome', and 'Teargas' for a sample. :headbang:

Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia by Dimmu Borgir - Even if you dont usually like black metal, you will like this, its awesome!

Its so great whoever buys it probably wont ever buy another cd again, so I didnt bother :)

But if you want to buy something else BEFORE you buy PEM, then buy Fallen by Evanescence :)

my recommendations are. When listening to these i have never wanted to skip tracks.

Dew Scented - Inwards (2002)- German Thrash - Pretty much the most aggressive thrash i've heard. Imagine the haunted without the the little melodic bits, just straight out balls to the wall thrash. New one is out in September and is what im looking forward to this year. Standout tracks: Life Ending Path, Bitter Conflict, Terminal Mindstrip, Reprisal, everything's great

Stormtroopers Of Death - Bigger Than The Devil (1999) - This is something many people don't have and they should be shot. I listen to this more than Speak English. Better songs, better production. I just listened to the songs for about 1 1/2 years, then i opened the lyric book and it became a classic in my eyes. Funniest stuff i've heard in metal before. If you are going to buy it make sure you get the version with Seasoning the Obese, Raise Your Swords and the Ballad of The Scorpions. Standout Tracks: Bigger Than The Devil, The Crackhead Song, Evil Is In, Skool Bus, The Song That Don't Go Fast, Moment of Truth, We All Bleed Red, Make Room Make Room, Free Dirty Needles.

As much as I like The Haunted and thrash in general, I'm not sure if that's something I want to imagine. o_O

you forgot Shenanigans, BLASPHEMER.

I didnt think Dew Scented were all that great  I have 2 of their cds and neither of them sounded all that good to me, I might give them another listen today...

if you give 1 dollar a day, and the end of the year we'll have enough for a big kegger at my house, a maiden downunder pissup at my new joint.

go for it spawn:)

How many non-drinkers have we got on this board anyway? What ever the total is, sign me up too. Such a hideously grown up thing to do...

Back to the topic, I'd like to recommend "Our Cross, Our Sins" by Rondinelli (2002) and "Marching To Mars" by Sammy Hagar (1997). If you don't have it already, it's a great place to start with his solo work.
