recommendation: ashes against the fuckin grain

I was fully expecting "Not Unlike the Waves" to blow me away given all the praise it's been getting, but as good as it was, it wasn't an early stand out track to me.

Yeah, I was let down too.

I remember reading people's reactions like "BURZUMIC SCREAMING!!! ITS AWESOME" and so I was really pumped, and then when I finally heard it was like... ok one word is that "burzumic" screaming and the rest is clean vocals over a pretty simple bassy riff. Chill out guys.

Needless to say I was really let down and wanted to go listen to some In The Woods... instead.

not unlike the waves is BRILLIANT* and probably better than any song on the mantle except in the shadow of our pale companion

* and i've listened to it 40+ times already so i know what i'm talking about unlike you nubs

Not Unlike The Waves is the song I enjoyed the most when I put it on, but I orignally thought I'd dislike it after multiple listens. It hasn't happened, it's a great mother fucking song.

I also love Fire Above, Ice Below.

np: Agalloch - "Ashes Against The Grain" - Fire Above, Ice Below [09:08/10:29]

EDIT: The more I listen to this album the more I like it. I absolutely love their change from the the first two albums, but still keeping their great atmopshere.

The album is actually really starting to grow on me. I don't think it's as good as The Mantle, but damn, it IS getting better.

"Limbs" is still meh.

Hehe. The Neurosis might sneak in my top 10 <- based on my expectations after the last two.

Yea I decided to not listen to this album again till it gets colder or I go camping or something. I cant focus on it right now and I havent really been in the mood for Agalloch.

I caved in and uploaded this to Ye Olde iPud last night, listened to the first song and thought "oooh" but then I fell asleep when the second one came on. I was god damn tired.

...right...And if you think so compare it with "Schwäne im Schilf" at Empyriums Weiland!!!...the same Athmosphere...pure melodic and then grim vocals at a very intense parts...

I am a M00se. I am not impressed.

of course nobody ever went to BC besides the grim cuddlers so I'll have to change that "BC" to "NYC, Sweden, New England, and/or California"
