I'm looking for a quality pair of headphones for 100 bucks or less. No in ear or ear bud. I mostly listen to death/black metal and some prog. Thanks

Hey, I 100% recommend Grado headphones. I purchased a pair of the SR225's (200$) and they sound insanely good. They make a cheaper pair called the sr80's and they are 100$.

Grado makes excellent headphones for rock music, I have found that death metal (especially Opeth) sound absolutely outstanding in them. All of there headphones are hand made and are excellent quality. For 100$ you wont find a better sounding headphone.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot man I might check them out. They look kind of goofy though haha. Any others?

Well, you would only listen to open-style headphones inside in a quiet room, so no one would see them. If you want to wear phones outside and around people you need a closed pair, which generally don't sound as good unless you pay a huge amount.

I also have a pair of Grado SR225 and like them very much they are perfect for Rock. I don't think that they are that good for black metal, drone and the like .Music that have a thick sound. On the other hand they are perfect for AC/DC, metallica and the more groovy metal.

They are not recommended for jazz, classic or black metal, noise/power electronics and drone.
