So i know similar question have been asked and i have searched but couldn't find an answer. Basically i'm trying to see if i need to buy the AU plug-in (which apparently didn't come with my toneport) and then an ilok license to be able to run it without line 6 hardware, or will i need just the ilok license?

I'll be tracking DI's from now on so i'm just trying to get this figured out! Thanks!

If you only buy the ilok license I *think* you only get Pod Farm standalone, not the plug-in version.

I could be mistaken though, but to me it's what makes sense.

I *think* it's the other way round. I believe you only get the plugin, not the standalone version when you purchase it for the ilok. I could also be wrong though.

EDIT: Confirmed. "Of note is that the iLok version does not work as a standalone program, unlike most competing products." From this site.

Pretty sure the standalone thing only works with the POD Studio.
The plug in is for POD XT/X3 and iLok

I've been looking at getting POD Farm Platinum 2 myself (and I have absolutely no POD hardware). Cheapest way by far that I've found it to grab an iLok and buy Pod farm for it. Audiomidi.com had a wicked deal going last week... $150 for pod farm platinum 1 with a free upgrade to platinum 2. Duno if it's still on, but that would save you $150!

Okay awesome! At this point i'm just trying to determine whether or not it's worth the money to use my tone port gx as a di or spend an extra $100 for an ilok dongle and the pod farm license for that. I don't really have any way to try it out before i buy though. I'm thinking about just going with the toneport gx for now, since i'll be reamping anyways.

I know that, but then i will keep having to switch between my toneport and my firepod and its just kind of annoying. I'd kinda like to be able to stick with the firepod. Thanks for all the help though, guys!

no no, have the toneport plugged in but you dont use it other than a dongle.

this is what i do.

i have a UX2 plugged in the back of my comp and it just sits there but activates PODfarm, then I use my M-Audio interface as my interface and plug my guitars into that.

this. i have a fackin guitarport hangin out as my dongle, but it's not used for anything else at all. the hardware isn't USED at all by podfarm, besdies for licensing. it does not need to be the active ASIO device.
