I LOVE his vocals on this album! He really gets after it on this album. In many places, his vocals on this one remind me of his vocals on Live on the Edge of Forever. The aggressiveness in his vocals in this album is amazing, and his tame moments are breathtaking. After listening to this album a few times, I'm ready to dub this one a masterpiece (of course, I was ready to do that before I ever got my hands on it, but that's beside the point... =P).

I agree. I generally don't like "aggressive" vocals like the ones on The Odyssey, but for some reason I really like these. You is really a great singer:)

Yes, Russell has shown on the Odyssey what a versatile forntman he is, virtually very song is a tour de force for him. I knew he was capable of handling more aggressive parts before, but here he manages to sustain the intensity throughout an entire song, as in King Of Terrors.

Agreed.

This album is certainly Russell's best performance.

I like the agressive vocals also... but if he didn't vary to a more soft vocal sometimes it would be very bad... anyway, it's good the way it is. Doing agressive and soft vocals and putting a lot of feeling makes the songs even better! Russel is very good! and is even better now.

hehe I don't have to go deep on this discussion, he's my favorite singer anyway:grin: but his vocals are A+ on this CD specially on The Odyssey and Awakenings I love singing along to those two:hotjump:

I really like the aggressive vocals of Russel Allen, but i think that is best performance is on Candlelight Fantasia and Divine Wings of Tragedy....:flame:
I want to see them in Italy....aaaarghhh....

Russ continues to amaze me. He has expressed even more range on this CD than ever before. Personally, I think he will do even more on the next ones. I've never heard such incredible versatility. I'm trying to sing along but I can't!

  Russell's range is awesome indeed but I keep up with him just fine most time (but some of his high notes are dam hard:mad: ) but the guy that I can't really keep up with is Henning Basse, that guy drives me nuts with those high notes, my voice cracks up all the time that I try to get that high:mad:
but Russell is no.1 on my books he's unbeatable here:grin:
