Cool, for once it's not everyone else ignoring it out of ignorance. :)

:) it seems people just don't care to check out the majority of the recs people give. I've been reccomending this song for 4 years now and i rarely ever see a reply to it, or it mentioned again. I've never heard anything sadder, and i've been looking ever since i first found it (i like teh sad musics ^_^)

Agalloch - And The Great Cold Death of the Earth
Amorphis - Alone
Hypocrisy - Paled Empty Spheres
Metallica - One
Rammstein - Mutter
Sentenced - No More Beating As One

He has a TON of other wonderful stuff - As much as I love metal, Kevin Gilbert remains my favorite artist. I'm relativly sure that I have every album he wrote the lyrics and sang for.

Song for a dead friend is his saddest piece, though. Live you can almost hear him weeping as he sings.

Katatonia have remained as depressing as ever for me.

I also find October Tide depressing in the same way that Katatonia is.

I have only heard two october tide songs liking both more than newer katatonia. October Tide reminds me off a mix between brave murder day, and sounds of decay. ace

A lot of Pain of Salvation's music can be very sad lyrically and sonically:

A Trace of Blood, Waking Every God, or This Heart of Mine (from Remedy Lane)
Oblivion Ocean (from Entropia)

almost any of their songs, heavy or otherwise, have subtle sadnesses to them.

I find Orion (Metallica) to be sad also, and most of White Pony (Deftones - most of you probably don't consider it metal but it's an excellent record nonetheless.)

Chris

Crowbar - Time Heals Nothing (track)
Paradise Lost - Forever Failure
Crowbar - Decembers Spawn
Crowbar - Through the Ashes I've watched you burn

Slipknot - Vermilion Part 2
As I Lay Dying - Distance Is Darkness
Mudvayne - IMN, Pulling The Strings, -1, Skrying, Served
Flaw - What I Have To Do
Blindside - Roads
Pink Floyd - Hey You
Radiohead - Street Spirits "Fade Out"
Metallica - Untill It Sleeps, Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters
But the saddest of sad ones for me is Deftones - Hexagram...

I'm listening to Abyssic Hate - Suicidal Emotions right now. I definitely think all the songs on here qualify as sad songs. The music is definitely NOT up everyone's alley though, since many people do not like Burzum-esque minimalistic black metal.

oh... btw... some ppl say Lamb Of God isnt melodic and that you cant really figure out one song from another, but I wanna notice - there's one song of them that almost makes me cry - its "Blood of the scribe"... There are so different moods in this one song...
Its melodic, its deep its just amazing like as an art work...

The Cure - Fascination Street or any other song off of Disintegration

I know, not metal.....but still sad nonetheless.
