i agree with all of you guys. the show was definitely fucking awsome. even though they played 18 songs i just wanted more. their energy was just spectacular. they opened up with "the wonders at your feet". great opening song, everybody cheered. i was expecting the place to be more packed but it was definitely a good showing. i was taking pics but my camera was all goofed out. until nexttime.

this isn't the setlist cause i can't remember that well but they opened with the wonders and closed with final resistance(what else)

-in chronological order

punish my heaven
lethe
zodiackl light
therein
the wonders at your feet
not built too last
indifferent suns
haven
final resistance
monochromatic stains
the treason wall
damage done
white noise/black silence
the new build
through smuggled lenses
the endless feed
lost to apathy

:worship: I really wanted them to play more as well. I was hoping they'd come out for the encore after the show. very satisfied with what they played though. I really wanted Fabric and One Thought and Feast of Burden and Nether Novas. the list would just go on.

i know, i could have listened to twice the songs. but eighteen is alot of songs and they only have so much energy, as their in a different venue almost every night. and this one was their own pit stop on the way to san diego. they knew their fans in norcal were hungry for dt.

if they do a full headline tour in the us it'd be cool to play a longer setlist, take an intermission and then come out for the rest. and not have like 3 openers so we can see more of dt. they have so much material, you could probably go to every dt show when they came to your town for the rest of your life and be lucky to witness a full 50% of their music.

As soon as I finish uploading the photos, I will post a link to them and I will also post a review, okay? Been absolute chaos this week for me and I'm still injured from Dark Tranquillity and even WAY more injured from the Kreator gig the next night (got kicked in the ribs and stomach muscles, plus kicked twice in the head - let alone my really sore legs, knees, bruises, etc). I should hopefully have something here by tomorrow night.

Okay, so I am REALLY behind schedule... what can I say. Life can get in the way sometimes. I am positive the photos will be on my site on Sunday. I will post when they are done. But for now, here is a tiny bit of a review from me.

I got to the club SERIOUSLY early, but unfortunately the band wasn't able to get there until 4:45pm (aka 16:45 for you non-Americans reading this). So needless to say, we didn't have time to go running around town like previously planned. Oh well, next time for sure! We kept playing phone tag since myself and the club people were worried about if they were okay or not. Was great to see my buddies and it was almost exactly a year from the previous gig in San Francisco. How funny. I think they were just happy to get out of the RV since they had had to drive from Eugene, Oregon the previous night which is a long haul. Not to mention the insane weather we were having. I had to drive through hail, sleet, rain and very high winds to get to the show and back home. I felt like the motto for the US Postal Service! HA

I felt very bad for Niklas as he was realllllllly sick with the flu. So for everyone who saw the shows within a week of the SF show, be even more happy that tey played because Niklas isn't the type to give up. :) Gotta love him. Soundcheck didn't go too bad, just that it was a lot later than it was supposed to be.

I didn't get to check out Interseed or Sol Asunder as I had maybe 2 hours of sleep the night before and REALLY needed to save my energy to be able to withstand the hell that is known as the front for all of DT. I got some silly photos before the show (you'll see - we were in photo-taking mode, especially with mirrors, lol). I'll explain a couple of photos now though since I KNOW everyone will ask, even though you can't see the photos yet. Our fellow forum member, Arch, is a very good friend of mine. Originally, he was planning to drive to SF from the LA area to see the headlining gig, but weather was just too insane to even THINK about coming up. Then he wasn't going to be able to see them play in San Diego (which is only a couple hours away instead) because they played the same time he had finals. Sooooooooooooo I had the idea to take a photo of the whole band with a piece of paper saying “Hi Arch” on it so that he would laugh at it. We had planned to do it downtown with SF in the background, but obviously we never got that far. When I told Stanne the idea and we were all in the RV, he loved the idea and saw me about ready to make a sign, so he asked if HE could draw the sign. Of course I let him, that’s so much cooler. So he proceeded to draw a sign saying “Where is Arch???” and made caricature drawings of each band member on it. HAHAHAHAHA Tooooooooo funny. The photo I got of them with it is even funnier.

Right before they got on, I was fortunate enough to have a couple of guys in the very front make some room for me so I could be squashed in the front to take photos. Blitzula (new forum member on this thread) is one of the guys I was talking to (hi Blitz!). I talked to him quite a bit before they went on since it was taking a bit longer than normal to tweak out the sound before they hit the stage. He was quite excited about the show since they were headlining and so I thought what a better way for the band to see the excitement than for him to put something on here himself. I know the guys read stuff on here all the time, ya know? Bands love to see stuff like that.

On to the show. Now mind you, I love the hell out of DT and was very excited to finally see a headlining show as well, since it’s a first for us. BUT even so, I was thoroughly AMAZED by their set!!! They always have a ton of energy and a great vibe on stage, but at this particular show it seemed as if they were possessed. I think it helped that the crowd was SOOOOOOOOO enthusiastic and loud to them and interacting, which in turn made them want to give more back to the crowd. It was quite full in there, which is amazing considering it was a Sunday night and had been storming for three days. Me personally, I was EXTREMELY happy with Brian (our sound guy at the club), who for some reason decided to start playing with the lights during the show as well, which gave me REALLY cool photos! If I had had any room in the front to jump up and down like a little kid, I would’ve done it. The crowd was brutally rough to me at many times, but there was no way I was moving. One thing that was really funny was during Damage Done (I believe), Martin H was about 8 inches away from me and we both headbanged our hair so hard that a friend of mine said it looked like our hair was intertwined because mine is a lot longer than his! HAHAHA I was quite happy to hear Haven again, not to mention my favourites Monochromatic Stains and Zodijackyl Light and a ton of others that were just really good to hear. Oh – and I FINALLY got a lot of decent photos of Martin B. Out of the many times that I’ve seen them, this is the first time I was truly happy with his photos. Not to mention all the times the different guys in the band were doing funny poses for me! I thought I was going to die of laughter. It really seems to me that they make it look very easy at what they play, even though I know it’s hard.

After the show, I was hurting pretty bad so I just chilled on the stage so my legs could get used to bending again. At some point later on I begged Stanne to draw me a funny caricature of the band as well – that is the OTHER drawing photo you will see on my site later. All in all, I was really, really, REALLY happy with the show, the time we got to crack jokes together and all that jazz. Oh yes – I forgot to mention that before the show, I learned a lot more Swedish phrases to write down and pronounce. Anders, Martin H and a couple of the crew were sitting there teaching me. THAT was funny. Especially when I had to try to pronounce things I already know how to type out! HA!

Can’t wait for the next lesson, guys…
