SATURDAY NIGHT HEADLINERS

Might work if they were given the 2nd and 3rd slots. They have a vocal following here, but they wouldn't draw enough for the fest in the 4 & 5 slots.

Umm are you kidding? If Ayreon could get even 2 of the guest vocalists on The Human Equation for a live show they'd be more than headliner worthy

I have to agree with Paul, Ayreon would hold everyone in their seats, another that would do it, in my humble opinion would be either NIGHTWISH or TAROT or SHADOW GALLERY.

If you and Tammy could get Aryeon, Tarot and or Nighwish on Texas Madfest II, next year, I and many others would make the drive or flight out there! ;)

Hmmm, this is arguable. I could see an Ayreon show holding down a looong headlining slot (or two) if there were any combination of the following things going on:
  • special set-length -- longer than prior Ayreon/SoP performances
  • special guest instrumentalists
  • especially, special guest vocalists: Getting allll of them would probably be an impossibility, but Bruce Dickinson? James Labrie? Devin Townsend? Mikael Akerfeldt? Fish? Pick two or three, add Floor J. and it'd be a once-in-a-lifetime show for a LOT of fans beyond the usual PP audience.

  • I agree, but I would also be more than happy with SoP.

But, I think financially it's going to remain out of range. :erk:
Unfortunately, as far as Ayreon is concerned, I must agree too.

I'm however surprised that I have yet to see anyone suggesting Jorn and Russell doing The Battle. I know there were some of us that were hoping Russell would be able to share the stage with Jorn last year, if only for a song or two. As Jorn was recently headlining, this would be an idea for two or three PPs down the road.

Hmmm…we do know there is a new Aryeon project in the works. Maybe Arjen could kick off a series of U.S. dates with a stop at PPIX, which could make it a little more financially feasible. (And I’d kick in a few bucks as a sponsor as well!)

Of the other options that have been mentioned, I’d also love to see Savatage, Fates Warning or Shadow Gallery.

If that would happen...Glenn would have no problem getting enough sponsors for Ayreon to play! Although I doubt that Arjen would tour the U.S. as Ayreon/Star One (although that would be awesome!!!). He doesn't seem to tour as much or that far in that format. If he were to come to the us, I'm sure that it would be in the SoP feat. Ayreon format.
