Well, back in Florida and back at work – tired as heck but coffee will help get me through the day. And it suuure was worth it.

What a weekend. First, I’ll start with the forumers and the fellow ENCHANT fans. I’ve meet some cool people the past two times I went to Progpower in Atlanta but the Enchant fans this past weekend blow all that away. Everyone I met was SO incredibly cool – I had such a good time interacting with everyone On Friday night at the Alehouse and then Saturday night at the show:

DiscoDave (you stole Mare’s burger – you know it.…. well, at least we got some sun during our four mile walk to nowhere on Saturday afternoon … that and making the guard nervous as we loitered around out front of the PIXAR gate….)

Kristen-Viadragon (thanks for the ride to the show! You’re not still nervous are you? Calmed down yet? Wish we could have hung out a bit on Sunday!)

Mare-Mgirishfan (I always tried to preserve that space in front of the stage for you, so hopefully you got some good shots! – at least when that one girls head wasn’t bobbing into your way! When do we get to see some of those pics? Your shots on the DVD show T-shirt are great!)

Eric-Chynablue (thanks for the ride and all the great conversation, bro – glad me and Kev were able to get you that room Friday night. And I got a few spins in of your CD on the plane ride back – sweet!! I wanna hear more, man! The second song is my fav so far – think you should try and get the third one on the ProgPower sampler for this year – great keyboard solo!)

My man Ashley – Ajstiles - and his wife straight from Lousiana (really enjoyed hanging/talking with you guys – except when someone <Jeanne perhaps??..> kept yelling at me to do my Jersey accent, and to “Do it! Do it!!”)

Squonk2 and his lovely wife (Really glad to meet you two - enjoyed our Enchant discovery and Neil Peart conversation, as well as talking about ‘real’ stuff like jobs employment <for my true feelings on that subject though, reference Blink of an Eye and a little song called MONDAY…>)

JJmannford (didn’t get to talk with you as much as I thought but it was damn good to finally meet you – and hell man – you’re immortalized on the DVD now, when Ted walked in through the crowd to the stage and was singing right next to you – how’s it feel to be famous??)

Not sure if I forgot anyone but there were plenty of people I talked to only for maybe two minutes at the show but who were still just incredibly cool. (there was a guy in the audience standing just next to me – don’t know his name – and we just kinda shared the amazing-awe-inspiring moments during Pure when Ted just NAILED those two incredible high notes – it was so cool) Enchant folks are a topnotch, rare bunch, and I’m proud to be one of them.

Now, as for the show itself……….

:OMG: :OMG: :OMG:

I’d always thought since back on the late nineties after being a fan for a few years that seeing ENCHANT live was just going to be one of those dreams I’d always be carrying around – so I still can’t believe I was actually there and saw what I saw Saturday night. One of the best, most enjoyable shows I have ever seen or been to, ever – hands down. When Bill started the intro to Mae Dae…. I was just amazed that I was actually standing there, three feet from the stage, watching you guys perform live. The range and choice of songs was incredible – when you guys went into the beginning of Broken Wave, I almost fell over. One of my favorites.

All the songs were so kick-ass – but for me from memory, personal ones are - Sinking Sand, Monday, The Thirst, Paint The Picture, My Enemy, Progtology, Seeds of Hate….. amazing amazing, amazing….. the acoustic set was beautiful. And then to close with Oasis which was a performance that blew EVERYONE away, not just me. At Death’s Door and What To Say …. really resonated with me on a personal level – emotional – stirring – magical – all I can say……

And I think magical (hmmm – with a name like Enchant, what would you expect?…) pretty much summed up the show and the weekend as well.

I could probably write more but my lunch break is almost over and work, as always, calls. (Blame it all on a Monday, I guess…) For now, just let me wrap up by saying, to the band:

Doug – really enjoyed talking with you. Such a pleasure to finally get to meet you after enjoying your playing and your lyrics for so many years. Thanks for taking a pic with me. Seeing you onstage was something – your energy up there is incredible and as certain points, I was amazed your fingers weren’t smoking while you blazed away on your axe!

Bill – great to meet you and speak with you as well. Oh and your playing? Damn – I was extremely glad to be situated right in front of you in the audience and have a great view while you did your thing. You’re amazing, man, and so glad you are an important part of this special band.

Sean – damn dude, I guess you CAN be a totally KICK-ASS drummer and be one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, both at the same time! You rock, bro – Maybe you and your Zero Hour buddies can hang at ProgPower later this year. If so, I got the first round of brews!

Ted – I don’t care what anyone (Doug??…) said – I liked your Skynyrd attack you had there! (the SRV riff was pretty cool too..) I was so impressed by how great you sounded live – you left jaws DROPPED in the room, man, with that one note in Pure. I felt privileged to be able to watch you do your thing up there. :worship: And as I said the night of the show, Seeds of Hate rocked my socks off, man! Thanks for signing CD booklets and answering questions at the Alehouse and at the show –AND, most importantly, thank you for What To Say. Words can NOT express how that song hit me, standing out there on the floor. Just, thank you.

Ed – Bro, take it from me – you tore it UP, up there on stage. You kicked all kinds of ass, just look at the reaction from the fans so far! What do I want to say otherwise?… Well, how about thanks for everything. Talking and interacting with you made this whole weekend so much more than special. Things we talked about, things you said…. I appreciate SO much. The whole experience of meeting the band and meeting you truly moved me. And has helped me a LOT in what has been a pretty rough time lately, as you know. Thanks can’t cover it but I’ll say it anyway. Thank you, man. Sincerely.

Meeting you all and speaking with you was just such an enriching and enjoyable experience. Thanks for signing everything I (and the other folks) threw at ya too. Being on the opposite side of the country (as well as way too far south) makes things complicated, but when you line up another gig like this, I AM THERE. Don’t care what I have to do but I’ll make it somehow.

Oh man, just looked at the time again – way late :ill: - I gotta get back to work…. Everyone take care!

Dave

Dave,

I was the guy standing next to you in awe of Ted's vocals on Pure (not to mention everything else happening on the stage.) It was good to share the evening with you and everyone else. I'm glad we can all continue to talk through the forum. I'm new to it, but I'll be stopping in more often now that I have met some cool friends. Glad everyone made it home safely...

Right! Yeah, from Virginia Beach right? Man, sorry about the name slip there - the weekend and trip back has made everything a BLUR the past 12 hours and I've been working non-stop here at the job since I got in this morning (don't know how I squeezed in the HUGE post above just on lunch...) - wasn't that one HELL of a magical moment standing out there on the floor revelling in Ted's range? :worship: Too damn sweet!

Yeah, it was great to meet you too bro - you'll have to let me know exactly whereabouts you are in the Va Beach area there - like I said, I went to college there at VWC for four years so I'm sure we know some of the same places.

Cool - talk to you later, Bill!

DAVE

No problem on the name. I'm terrible at names, much better at faces. :loco: I know how you feel about being drained. I got in at about 12:30 last night, and am still dragging. I can still hear every Enchant song in my head too. My toughest choice now is which CD to listen to next. I picked up the Blueprint special edition at the show based on Doug's suggestion, so it will probably be next. At the beach (when I'm there, I'm in DC working right now), I have an apartment about 1 mile from the beach on 17th St. I can't wait for warm weather. Nothing like putting a CD in the discman and taking a bike ride on the boardwalk. Florida's great too. My sister lives in St. Augustine, and I'm overdue for a trip. For now, back to work... :ill:

I picked up the Blueprint SE there as well...I already had the original, but with a whole other disk of random stuff plus the accoustic version of Enchanted, I just couldn't resist. =)

Yes, I echo all of the above! I haven't had time to take a lunch hour, so the forum has been open on my desktop all day, and I sneak in here to read. Dave (Burke), great piece up above--you said it all!! (By the way, Dave, I stopped being nervous when I heard the first notes of Mae Dae and realized I was actually THERE!!) I've been giving my cds a breather--the show is still sort of playing in my head! But I did manage to FINALLY get Break, at the show, and I'm loving every second of that cd! Agggh...have to get back to work!

I'm from New Orleans... where are you from?

Definitely a great show...everyone at DLBN has been asking me about it...I think we can expect more than a fair share of Enchant on my show later this week :p

Great job to all in the band of course! It was really a trip meeting all the superfans who flew in for the show...I was watching the show from everywhere including the control room & I think the CD & DVD will be brilliant! I can't wait!

omg, you haven't gotten Break until now?

That should be a crime! Fantastic album, one of my top three Enchant picks (which is saying a lot).

Dave, thanks for such kind words. It was great getting to meet all of you in
person on Friday night and then again at the show. I wished it wasn't over
already!

Yes, I agree on Break. I managed to pick it up in a retail store a couple of years back. I always got the impression that it was somehow considered a lowpoint for the band (and they did only play the two songs - Break and My Enemy), but I think it has some great songs. I really like Wounded too (which also only had two songs played Saturday night), since it was my first Enchant CD. But then Blueprint is a classic, Time Lost is unique in it's own way, J9D10...What To Say, Blink of an Eye is a favorite too, and Tug of War has Bill J. Hell, I can't make up my mind. :loco: I think everyone needs to get them all. And don't forget the Magna Carta tribute CD's. I've got them too. When I got the special edition of BoaE, I gave my other copy to a friend, but I think I will keep my original Magna Carta version of Blueprint just because Doug likes them so much. :D Who else has the original versions of Blueprint and Wounded?

Yes, well there's something to be said for delayed gratification!!! It's now in my top seven!:tickled: :loco:

[Who else has the original versions of Blueprint and Wounded?]

Hey Bill...

I DO! As I told many of you my Enchant discovery story over the weekend, I first found Blink in a Borders, of all places. Then, I found Tug in another store. I went to Tower.com and bought J9D10, Break & Time Lost, working my way backward. I had a tough time finding Wounded & Blueprint. Finally, Amazon had them in stock. They arrived only about two weeks before the show, so I was just getting to know them. Thankfully, I knew all the Blueprint tunes they played at the show. AWESOME!!! Anyway, both Blueprint and Wounded that I got from Amazon are the Magna Carta versions.

HOWEVER... at Doug's recommendation at Pyramid on Friday night, I bought the Special Edition of Blueprint at the show. As a musician, I mostly wanted to hear the second disc to hear how the songs evolved into the album everyone knows. What I didn't know until I listened to CD1 the next day is that Blueprint is REMASTERED!!! :kickass: It sounds SO superior to the original CD that I have. I haven't even gotten to CD2 yet with the demos because I'm se enthralled with the better sound of CD1!!!

Had I known this was the case, I'd have bought the IO version of Wounded, too!! :)

Yeah, that remastered BLUEPRINT (something I'd hoped for for a WHILE) is just so sweet.....

And yeah, I have original Magna Carta printings of Blueprint (bought back in 96) and Wounded (bought the next year). Funny thing is, my copy of Time Lost is from Inside Out - but from Germany - BEFORE there was an Inside Out America arm of the label. My copy of BREAK (if you look at the back and the "distributed in" section) is also from Germany.

Well, guess I better just go ahead and get the SE of Wounded so my collection can truly be 'complete'!

I found my first Enchant cd--the Magna Carta Wounded, used at Lyle's in Victoria B.C. I've decided my life goal is to get all the versions of everything and anything Enchant.:loco: Looks like I need to follow Sqonk around town!! CD 2 of Blueprint is really cool!! The Special Edition of Wounded/Time Lost is a must have as well. (okay, they're all "must haves:worship: )

Kristin
Via dragon on Enchanted spending spree!

Hey, I got my first CD, Wounded, in Borders, too. Back in 1997. See, there's no reason Mr./Ms. Average American should be deprived of Enchant. I hadn't planned on getting the Wounded/Time Lost SE because I already have both, (the German IO version of Time Lost too), and there are no "extras", right. But with what I'm hearing here, I'm inspired to pick that one up too. Plus, I'm sure the boys don't mind if I throw a little more cash their way. ;) They're worth every penny (which is probably what they net on each CD). Most of the others, I mail ordered. Blueprint, I mail ordered directly from Magna Carta. Before the US IO deal, though, I was so desperate for more Enchant that I e-mailed Doug asking how I could get the other CD's. And was amazed when he replied! :worship: It wasn't until J9D10 came out that I found Time Lost and Break. Anybody heard about a possible title for the live CD/DVD?

BillIV

There's four extra songs on the Wounded/Time Lost pack, two on each cd's.

Wounded: Fade 2 Grey Demo, Accoustic Pure
Time Lost: Under the Sun Demo, Accoustic Words

What was I thinking? That CD was right there in front of me at the table Saturday night. If I had only brought a backpack, I could have bought one of everything. Oh well, amazon.com, here I come...
